Tonight was the last time I will support any black business who does not think customer service matters, especially when doing business with their own ...less is NOT okay! I drove 45min from Castle Pines to dine here with my children. I arrived before 3pm didn't leave until 515pm. Dined in and placed an order for my family 2 oxtails dinners w 2 sides of greens, 1 catfish dinner with mac n cheese and black eye peas. 1 gumbo.
Patiently waited an hour for our food to be served, then when the food arrives it is missing 1 green and 1 oxtail plate. Initially the server attempted to tell me they put both sides of greens in one bowl, then I explained I had been there before and know how it is served. She then brings out the 2nd bowl of greens, but apparently forgot to put in the order of oxtails the 2nd time as well. So while my kids are eating I am waiting for the 2nd plate of oxtails, however when she comes back to the table 45 min later (never checking in btwn) she only gives the check. That's when I said where's my food?? She says "Oh I made a mistake and didn't put it in."
I have my son pay for the food and tip (lowered undesevered tip but did so anyway, because that's who we are!) However I think it is important that the owner be made aware of my experience to offer a proper solution. Customer Service 101!
Owner was made aware by regular staff member, the owner did not address the customer herself, just relayed the message it would be another 25 min and I would have to pay full price for the meal. No attempt to correct, offer future credit, half off, or even an apology for the horrible mistake or in wasting my time, or creating a horribly uncomfortable dining experience for my family. I did not eat! Did not want to pick at my kids food so, I respectfully let my kids eat while waiting for my oxtails during the second hour. Customer Service 101 (We had already been there over 2 hrs) my youngest is falling asleep in the booth. So asking for the oxtail meal to be served to go and comped was not unreasonable on my part. What is unacceptable is for a business owner in food service, not to address a customer with a proper solution who has been waiting over 2 hours in your restaurant to eat food, which ultimately I did not get, food! This is why soul food restaurants don't survive, because we as black people think we dont have to provide the same level of service when dealing with one another. I didn't come to that establishment to get free food. I came to eat and ordered most of the menu and paid. Shamefully the owner did not take the time to educate herself on the patron, why I drive 45 min to your restaurant or attempt an amicable resolution rather than filing complaints w state or BBB. In a restaurant, you never know who you are entertaining, so treating people with consistent respect should be a regular business practice, again Customer Service 101. It saddened me when the patron that sat behind me, tried offering assistance by asking the waitress if we had been helped because he and his wife came in after us, ordered got served and I'm still waiting for food, then saw me at my car, apologized himself for what happened then said "The food is good, but you know how we are! Hopefully you'll have a better experience next time." NEXT TIME?! FR?! The problem is I was left feeling like the owner and staff could care less if I came back or not. I will defintiely not be approving any catering, funding, or recommendations for this establishment or related affliates. It takes a lot for me to take the time to write an unfavorable review. I usually go out of my way to give kudos and funding to businesses in particular who are interested in providing good service and operate with integrity. This is not my first time having issues here personally in addition to others who have been referred there for various reasons. I would not even think about referring this restaurant to subject another family or business to have a similar experience as my own. Personal experience is the...
Read moreI just moved out here to Denver from Atlanta due to work. After hearing a co-worker recommend them I decided to give it a try.
Price I Paid : $24 dollars and some change.
Order: Wing Dinner w/ Macaroni and cheese and Collard Green. With a additional side order of Candid Yams.
Customer Service:
My first impression was through a phone conversation when I called to place the order. The woman who answer to place my order was rude and basically rushed me. My order was to the Fried Chicken wing dinner with a side of Macaroni and cheese and the Collard Greens. She tried to rush me off the phone before I could even ask for a side of Candid Yams which I had to throw that in at the last minute before she hung up on me.
My order was incorrect instead of my order of Collard Greens I received an additional Candid Yams. Which was more than likely dude to the impatient woman who rushed to take my order without care. I informed them of the incorrect and the employee at the stand (light skin girl) was really sweet and nice and tried to get who I assumed was the bosses attention regarding my situation for the woman to yell at her employee. I then had another older black woman rudely come up to me snatch the bag out of my hand and then walk away to get me my missing order of greens while not speaking a word to me.
The Food:
Cons:
There’s nothing Candid about the Yams. It’s just cooked sweet potatoes with an attempted candid yam syrup. Very Watery, tasteless.
My first impression on the macaroni was the fact it looked just like velvetta so you can imagine my surprise when I tasted it to get a mouth full of Velvetta Cheese. You can tell they added extra cheese and a bit of spices to spice it up but the Velvetta is strong and can be pinned out from anywhere.
I didn’t realize the Collard Greens had cabbage until after I opened the container. This is something very unique but it seems like they use the Cabbage as a filler because the cabbage overwhelms the actual greens. It could also be seasoned a bit more.
Pros:
Chicken Wings were well seasoned and a decent size.
All in all I can not say I care to return back to this restaurant. I would have been more than happy to try to give their other menu options a chance regardless of how I felt about my order today. However the service and customer service alone was enough to deter me from this Black...
Read moreWent To This establishment midweek wanted some honey hot 🔥 wings. Upon entering I walked up to the counter behind another customer, when the lady sitting on the stool said in a very rude and abrupt tone that I needed to move over to the right side by the bar to order I guess I was in the way, but I didnt know there's one counter to pay and another side to place your order, there's no sign displayed that let's you know this. However I let the first encounter slide and proceeded to look at the menu. She asked me what I wanted to order and I replied also asking her if they had french fries because I didn't see them, she rudely responded they're on the "menu"that's not the question I asked wasn't going to let the second offense slide so I looked at my husband and then looked right at her and told her she was very rude. She said she didn't feel like she had been rude to me but I beg to differ. I've made up my mind a while back I'm not Patronizing any more restaurants that are allowing their employees to treat customers any kind of way because they have no customer service or people skills. The owner of this facility is a nice lady, but if the women who collects the money 💰 doesn't get it together and start treating people better I'm afraid you'll be losing customers and the business will go downhill...We Left without ordering anything...Got To...
