I'm not sure if I just showed up at a bad time or what, but the food and service was pretty lackluster. I'll start with the food, it's basically Subway for breakfast food. The bacon is nothing special, if you go to your local grocery store and bought sourdough and bacon and cooked it yourself, you basically made the exact breakfast you can get here. Maybe it's different for their other options like Salmon, but if you're just coming for bacon and eggs, any chain is surely gonna give you a bigger quantity at a better price. The eggs themselves were overcooked despite asking for over easy, I was disappointed with yolk wasn't runny really on either of my eggs. It also didn't help that the sourdough didn't really feel toasted. Likewise for the bread, the sourdough may as well been bought from King Soopers. The Mocha was good, but it taste like your standard mocha you can also get pretty much anywhere that's not a chain.
Overall on the food, nothing really stood out to be as more spectacular than anything else you can buy. Like I said, biggest take away is that if you weren't lazy and cooked for yourself, the ingredients, cooking and prep all had a flavor variety of exactly what you can make as a beginner breakfast chef in your home. The baseline for a good breakfast in my opinion is if it's better than McDonalds. To me, this is not better than McDonalds or Starbucks in neither price or flavor, I would rather go to either of those than here.
Now I'll move on to the service. It was likewise pretty lackluster, the waiter seemed more bothered that there were people there on a Sunday. It wasn't the worst service ever, but the waiter seemed bothered, wasn't really interested in following a natural or welcoming flow of conversation (I don't need small talk, but it doesn't kill to at least a bit more enthusiastic, or don't look at me with casual disappointment as I tap my tip in) and likewise in service, gratitude is a 2 way street. While we are thankful they went out of their way to help us, they didn't seem thankful for us to come in and receive our business, which is a shame.
Lastly for atmosphere, there isn't really much to say. It's a restaurant on Tennyson, it'll have your standard decor, maybe like a fun picture with some lore about it relating to Denver. This isn't just a problem with this restaurant on Tennyson, it's a problem with all restaurants on Tennyson. None of them really have their own vibe so much as a copy pasted clone of something executed a bit better.
For breakfast options in Denver, there's better options pretty much anywhere else. Maybe there's other standouts that are better on their menu, but I won't be coming back. Hopefully they fix these issues, but as it stands right now, I'm not really sure where such high ratings are...
Read moreThe food on the restaurant week was fine, nothing to go back to the restaurant for, which is a huge missed opportunity. The broccolini was not charred, as it says in the description, the sauces were overly salted while the food was a little bland on its own,.. I suppose that makes sense when they’re paired together, but I disagree with that thought, if that’s the intention. The chicken was dry and needed a lot more sauce to compensate. The pesto pasta was pretty good - not a ton of meat options. The desserts hit the nail on the head! I’ve actually never had a pavlova and you e made me wanting to seek out more. Super dense brownie and delicious. Didn’t taste any of the miso tho - another missed opportunity. The cocktails were creative enough, nice job. We added the burrata to the experience and that was hands down, the best thing we had. Mixed with eggplant and a lot of red colored oil. Watch the to-go boxes tho, ALL the grease will seep through in a matter of 15 min. Happened to all three to-go boxes. Service was fine, nothing special and we kind of felt like she forgot about us. Lastly, they made us sign on an electronic device, which doesn’t highlight a 5% service charge. This really irks me. No matter who it goes to, I don’t like my hand led. Probably won’t be back any time soon, but highly recommend the burrata and...
