After seeing photos of Cafe Crevier’s delicious-looking thin crust pizza online, I decided to place a takeout at 2 o’clock on a Saturday. I got a “Thinny Thin” pie and sicilian pie, and, after fees and taxes, the total came to $50. When I received the pizza, I was disappointed to find that both pies were beyond well done; they were burnt. I reached out to the pizza middle-man (Slice) who contacted the restaurant. The manager apparently told Slice “we got our pizza oven a week ago and that’s how the pizza is supposed to look”. After sending Slice photos which were shared with Cafe Crevier (I assume), the restaurant denied a refund and we were stuck with $50 worth of completely burnt pizza. Before throwing it away, my family and I tasted the thin crust and Sicilian to see if it tasted as bad as it looked. The thin crust, as predicted, tasted like it had been in the oven a few minutes too long. The cheese was hard and dried out like a solid piece of rubber, just like a slice of leftover pizza you put in a toaster oven to reheat and then forget about until it has cooled down and hardened. The underside of the pizza was golden and not at all burnt and the edge was toasty and crisp, as advertised. The cheese alone was the issue as if they had broiled it because the bottom was so thin and fragile. The sicilian’s crust was black and tasted as burnt as it looked. It was also surprisingly bland towards the center where the crust wasn’t charred. Neither the cheese nor the sauce made up for the burn crust. It was a complete disappointment. The pizza was by and large inedible. For the first time in my life, I threw almost two entire pizzas in the garbage and started over with a new order from another restaurant. I understand there may be a learning curve with a new pizza oven, but I do think there is a difference between “well-done”/“crispy” (which I like in a pizza) and burnt. A restaurant who claims to make their pizza “well-done” needs to tread that line carefully or else they’ll wind up with a lot of disappointed customers like my family and me. If I’m wrong and this is in fact what Cafe Crevier intended to deliver, I hope future customers will find this review to understand how their pizza “is supposed to look” before they order.

Was made aware of this place after Dave Portnoy reviewed it. Later a friend shared a slice of one of their thin crust specialty pies with me and I loved it! So yesterday I decided to try them for lunch takeout (keep in mind I work for a living). I walked in and and asked if I could place an order and then proceeded to order a cobb salad. After paying and waiting about ten minutes I realized I was never even told how long the wait would be. After 15-20 minutes the salad was ready and I eagerly took it off with me to work not realizing there were no tomatoes at all and I forgot to specify that I wanted chicken with it. I called and asked about the tomatoes and was told "we're out of tomatoes." Then I asked why they didn't ask me if I wanted chicken on the salad (It is common practice to ask someone what protein they would like on their salad -especially if they're only ordering a salad.) They reasoned that it was the kitchen's fault for not communicating with the people at the front taking orders. I hope the reader can see where this going... The remedy offered: come back and pay for some chicken. I don't need to add insult to injury here but I explained that I wasn't making a special trip, during my work hours, to BUY chicken from them as I was already disappointed with the service on my first-ever visit to the restaurant. They offered to have a manager call me back. I have yet to receive a call from anyone and now I am feeling quite indignant that I paid roughly $15 for a salad, without any tomatoes, and where the only protein in it was a single egg. Needless to say, I was very hungry yesterday, and as of now I will not be spending my hard earned money to treat my girlfriend to dinner at Cafe Crevier when Denville has so many other great dining options.

I ordered take out last night. I was very much looking forward to trying it out. Let me regretfully say is was a all around disappointment. My pick up time was 3:45. When i got there only half my order was ready. I was the only person waiting. The staff was run by teenagers that where polite but had no clue. I had to wait 45 minutes for them to get my order completed. The website shows pictures of their food. It all looked delicious. However, when I got home the food looked nothing like what I ordered. The calamari with ginger sauce was not edible. I ordered SOS, instead they put so much source all over the top. The sauce was so tangy that I had to throw it away. The Burratta salad looked nothing as advertised. What I got was ricotta cheese over arugula. The picture on there menu showed this beautiful colorful Burratta salad with tomato, prosciutto and balsamic. We also had the pasta with shrimp was okay, not much flavor and the Margarita pizza, might of been good, however, since it was sitting on counter for 45 minutes waiting for the rest of my order, it lost its freshness, My bill came to $90. I would be happy to pay that amount if the food looked like what they advertised. I hate to give bad reviews to family own restaurants. I understand how hard they work and maybe it was a off night. I did try to call them and sent a text message on there website. To my disappointment, no one responded back to me. The parking is horrible and this location changed hands many times. I suggest they tighten up their ship or they might be next to sail away. Again, I regretfully write this review. I encourage you to listen to your customers and at the very least hire a manager. Teenagers can not run your business.

Was really excited to try this place and I think my expectations might have been too high. We went for brunch on a Sunday. First thing I noticed was paper menus - not in a plastic insert or anything. They were already wrinkled and beaten up. The service was iffy - after a few min the owner came to our table and said “did they take your drink orders yet?” And we said no - so she took them. A few minutes later the server came to take our food order. When the owner came back with our drinks she said “did they take your food order?” It seemed odd that there wasn’t a better way to keep track of who was taking orders.

We ordered 2 coffee drinks that were really good, chocolate chip pancakes, and classic eggs Benedict.

The food came out fast. The eggs Benedict came on a thin, untoasted slice of whole wheat bread. Like the kind you buy in a plastic sleeve at the grocery store. I would have expected an English muffin or Italian bread or something… and at least toasted. The eggs themselves were cooked perfectly, but the home fries that came with it were cold.

Pancakes were good, but when the server first came over to give us our food, he only put the eggs down and walked away with the plate of pancakes. I think he was waiting to get the syrup & butter to serve with it, but we then sat watching the pancakes sit on the ledge between the kitchen and dining room for a bit. Why not just give us everything in his hands initially and say “I’ll be right back with the syrup”?

They were also playing music in the restaurant, but with constant ads. That was really distracting and took away from the experience of dining out. Spring for the radio subscription without ads or use Spotify or something - we don’t need to hear advertisements for WhatsApp while eating!

Overall the food was decent and ambiance is nice, but service was just ok and the ads over the radio were annoying. I know this is a new place, so hopefully as they iron out the kinks things get better! Attention to details makes a huge difference for overall dining experience. Right now I’m not sure I’d go back… we’d give it another chance probably in...

So as a foodie from Queens NY and after seeing the massive review on “One Bite” I decided to visit family who are in the next town over from Denville. We had a nice get together and Ordered thru the Slice app (2 Large Regular Pies & 1 Large Thinny Thin) DoorDash delivered the order and that’s where it all began. I was sent 2 Thinny Thins. The driver notified me that that was the order they were given. The receipt said I was supposed to get 1 Large & 1 Thinny. Which was still incorrect. I then call the store and after explaining the situation to 2 employees was told DoorDash messed up which was incorrect because both boxes had my name on it. Upon asking for a manager multiple times and being put on hold and being told no one was available I kept pushing to get someone on the phone especially after paying $75 for 3 pies. One of the employees even said they would fix the problem and have it delivered to me, to be me back on hold and then say no they couldn’t. After that A women got on the phone claiming to be the owner and very rudely said I would have to drive all the way over there and she would fix it. I refused and said since it was their fault to pay for an Uber and have it brought to me especially since we had already waited a long time and were hungry. She denied, so here I was stuck with not enough food/wrong order for the the family that I came to visit and was excited about trying the amazing pizza. The women then said she would cancel the order which I still had doubts about due to the tone in her voice and had to call the Slice app, which was another 20min phone call and they canceled it for me. Still have to wait 3 business days for my refund. And after 40 mins of being on the phone trying to figure out what was wrong no one ate because the pizza got ice cold and I had to spend more money to order from somewhere local. Customer service was terrible and the rudeness...
