A perfect lunch in the heart of downtown Denville. Stopped in for lunch at The Second Half On Main to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day. We arrived at 1:40ish and were able to grab a table near the bar, with no wait at all. While a Guinness is a St. Patrick's staple, I'm not a big fan so stuck with what I know and ordered an IPA. When we first sat down, we were greeted by Kaitlin ( if I botched the spelling on you name, I apologize. There are so many variations) She was quick to keep us hydrated and had a good grasp of the beers available. We ordered a few Lunch IPA's (The Maine Brewing Company - 7% ALC) as well a Guiness which arrived rather quickly. Kudos to Kaitlin for going above and beyond I'm making sure our table wasn't wobbly. We assured her our beers we not a tipping hazard, but she did not want to take that chance and corrected the problem. A huge thanks for going the extra mile for us and not risking a spilled beer. When it came to ordering, Adam took over and was very attentive as well. We took advantage of one of the daily specials and ordered the Conred beef sandwich (coleslaw, pickle and horseradish sauce) as well as a burger. All meals were delicious and served fresh. We were checked on several times during our meal and service was top notch. The beer was cold and the food was great and made for a great St. Patrick's Day lunch. For those hankering a good meal for St. Patrick's Day, consider The Second Half On Main. I'm rather confident they offer this meal all day long for takeout or eat in while supplies last. We did try another local place but it was jammed packed with an 45 minute wait. We found that The Second Half in Main less crowded and a great location for a few guys to catch up while having a few cold beers and eating some food. If your looking for a good place to eat, consider stopping in or carrying out for your next meal..

The special appetizer of the nachos were wonderful. The cheese was different but not bad. The blackened chicken was delicious! The salsa was great! Jalapeños were spicy and the guacamole was great but not my thing. Sour cream was normal. It wasn’t a bad dish. It was just missing something. The penne vodka was okay. Nothing special. The sauce wasn’t that strong but the chicken and mushrooms were great. The garlic bread was a bit too crunch for my liking. The fish and chips were delicious! I really enjoyed that the most. We sat outdoors so it was pretty quiet. Service was quick and great. There is no Apple Pay but that’s okay! Wasn’t crazy about the food but everything else was wonderful.

I have not been to the Second Half on Main since the fire 11 years ago. I used to go all of the time in the other location which had so much character. Not for any specific reason in particular, just was always really convenient and you could not miss the building. Loved the photo of the old building in the menu. I am glad we stopped. The food and service was awesome. Burger was amazing. Cooked perfect and the onion rings are off the charts. I will be going back again and I can promise it wont be 11 years, more like next month. Secomd Half on Main rocks.

This is my 2nd time eating at this restaurant. My wife and I walked into the bar area and asked if we could sit outside. We were seated next to a large sign advertising Happy Hour and 1/2 price appetizers. We ordered drinks and checked menus. We then asked our server if we could still order 1/2 off apps and she said ONLY inside. We were beyond upset because 1) that was never explained to us and 2) the sign says nothing about this. We spoke to the server about it and she apologized.

I stated to her plainly that we were displeased that it wasn't explained to us. No manager came to our table. We ordered our meal and paid for it. We left our server a 20%+ tip. It was never about money but we felt mislead. I will never come back to this restaurant for this reason.

My hamburger was cooked well beyond the rare to medium rare I ordered and my wife's filet was cooked well done. Not what we wanted. The food was mediocre as was our experience.

I work in a business that caters to retail clientele. This was a total miss by the management. No one touched us, came to the table, etc.. There are so many choices out there - I am sorry that our patronage...

MEDIOCRE AT BEST. Always walked by this place and it looked good. Finally got a chance to stop by and my wife and I were pretty disappointed. Ordered a Guinness that had way too much head on it. For $6 I would think they could at least pour it correctly. The "Jumbo Wings" are not jumbo by any means. They are typical frozen wings that are deep fried (possibly more than once- very very dry) and had wing sauce dumped on them. No breading, nothing special, and very small. Possibly the worst wings I've had. We both ordered a salads and again nothing special. The "grilled chicken" tasted like the kind you get from the super market that's already cooked in the prepared food section and was cold. For a $70 (with tip) dinner that consisted of salads, 1 appetizer, and 3 beers I would think it should be much better. So many other restaurants in the area that are much better for the same or lesser price. I recommend American Heritage, Rattlesnake Cafe, and for the best wings EVER go to Hennessy's in Morristown. They can also pour a Guinness...
