I either have a great experience at this place or one to complain about. In a nut shell, the food is great, but the staff can be infuriating. As a long-time former service industry worker I am extremely understanding and forgiving towards servers and retail workers. I don’t want to come off totally cruel, because not every staff member I’ve encountered at church street was rude, but I’m aware now I have a 50/50 chance of having a terrible experience depending upon who’s working. To put it simply, it’s a group of 6-7 teenagers running a bagel shop. The overwhelming carefree attitude towards customer service and condescending responses towards concerns/inquiries can be infuriating. It sucks, because I’ve been a huge fan of smart world for years before they merged. Incredible coffee and food. Even after they merged, I didn’t have this opinion initially. I guess it just slowly transformed into that type of place. Church street still has great food, don’t get me wrong, but there’s a lot more to think about when reviewing a place as a whole. If you don’t mind the service then it’s really not a problem. Who am I to say for sure, you could end up having a great experience. It’s always a toss up for me. All things considered I will still continue to order from here in spite of the ego hit I expect to endure interacting with the kid behind the counter Bc gd that turkey club is incredible (amongst other...

Church Street Bagels in Denville, NJ, is one of those local spots that has a perfect blend of warm atmosphere, top-notch bagels, and friendly service. If you’re looking for a laid-back place to grab breakfast or lunch, this cozy little gem is exactly what you need.

As soon as you step inside Church Street Bagels, you’re welcomed by the inviting smell of freshly baked bagels. The interior has that quintessential small-town charm—casual, cozy, and just the right amount of hustle. The staff are warm and friendly, often engaging with customers like old friends.

When it comes to the food, Church Street Bagels truly shines. The bagels are the star of the show—crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, with a variety of flavors to choose from. It’s served warm, making for the perfect comforting meal.

Whether you’re a Denville local or just passing through, it’s definitely worth stopping by for a bagel and a cup of coffee. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to return to, and it’s clear why so many people make it a part of their daily routine. Highly...

Not only are the bagels the best in Jersey, the staff is amazing too! They created a community that welcomes everyone! The best part is they merged with smart house coffee to give the best of both worlds for morning breakfast! No more making two stops to get the perfect bagel and morning drink. They have several types of cream cheese, which is fun for me to always try something different. Have your daily favorite or try something new, either way you won’t be disappointed here! Not only are these bagels fresh and fluffy, but they’re rich in flavor. Kids love the Tye dye bagels. Here’s a picture of this mornings breakfast- Taylor ham, egg and cheese (a NJ tradition) and a shore burrito! Make sure to say hi to Frankie, the owner, as he takes pride and joy in making...

This is my favorite place to stop for breakfast or lunch when I'm cycling in the Denville area. Lots of other cyclists stop here as well. There is a wide assortment of hot and cold dishes for both breakfast and lunch. The burritos and wraps are all amazing, the Smart Coffee they sell is wonderful, and the food always tastes fresh and delicious. This is not a large place, but I've always managed to get seating inside during cooler weather or at one of the outside tables on a warm day. Definitely worth a trip for breakfast or lunch if you're in the area. Nice casual dining at relatively inexpensive prices.

This place was really popular and crowded on a Saturday morning, but they were cranking out orders pretty steadily. They have an extensive food and drink menu (and some good looking muffins I resisted the urge to try); it's a two-in-one coffee shop and bagel shop. The latte I had was just okay. The breakfast sandwich came on a super soft, thick, excellent everything bagel, but the toppings (sausage and egg) weren't very exciting. Either way, the bagel made it a very good sandwich. I'd come again if I'm ever visiting the area

Great service and very friendly usually, but how do you interpret butter as peanut butter and put that on a bagel instead … Really? One of the workers was in the back taking forever for that order as well and claimed “he didn’t know he had to make the orders”. I do really love this place nonetheless and will be back but some workers really do need to be more attentive.
