When you walk into Time's Tin Cup, you really do take a step back in time. The owner of this little shop is very friendly, very helpful and can answer pretty much any question you might have about an object to a "T". The prices within are, in my personal opinion, very fair. From tins and bottles to typewriters and vintage Kodak cameras, old tools, jewelry, Christmas decorations, clothing, books, wall art, stationary and even artisan crafts, you will be hard pressed to not walk out of this place without a treasure in your hands. One of the best things about this curio/antique shop is that the owner moves stuff around and recycles stock on a regular basis, so you'll always find or see something you didn't see before; and as I said, if you're looking for something particular, if she's got it, she'll help you find it.
One of my experiences that I won't soon forget is as follows: I walked into this shop (as I had several times before this happened) just looking for something unique to take home with me, when I spied a little basket filled with old letters and pamphlets. What struck me out of the ordinary was that my family's last name was printed on the first letter in the stack. Then the second...and the third--fourth, fifth and so on until about thirty or forty pieces of mail (all from about a twenty year span between the 40's to the 60's) with my family's surname. Naturally, I was curious, so I phoned up my father and he confirmed that the mail had belonged to my great-great uncle. I took the letters to the owner, Laurel, and told her that these letters once belonged to someone in my family. She informed me she would contact the person who dropped them off (several letters had since been sold, which I understood entirely and wasn't the least bit upset about) and sure enough, about a week later, I was contacted by one of my distant cousins (possibly a second or third one; but I can't be bothered to connect the lineage at this time). It turns out, he had dropped them off after cleaning my great-great uncles home.
Laurel, the owner of Time's Tin Cup, had connected two long-lost relatives through her dedication to customer service and inquiry. That alone should tell you how great of a person she is. If you don't go here and find something for yourself, I have no doubt with the holidays around the corner, that you can find a unique gift for someone you plan to give something to.
So, whether you collect antiques, vintage clothing or are just looking to kill an hour or two while browsing Boonton's shops, stop by Time's Tin Cup the next...
Read moreLaurel was such a great help to me! Dad is downsizing and she's helped me with pricing and selling treasures at his house. She's given me hope for clearing out his house and making money for him.
Laurel is such a sweet person with a drive for selling and helping people. She is very personable, knowledgeable, and has a knack for finding treasure in someone else's junk. She is not a hard seller that pressures people to sell their belongings. She does "baby steps" with people who need it, and works at your pace.
Less in the dump and more in my dad's...
Read moreI accidentally brought my mom to the shop for her birthday on a day it was closed! The owner actually happened to be there that day doing some work, and while I was fully prepared to be bummed out and have to make quick alternate plans, she kindly allowed us to look around until she needed to leave. Even in the short time we had, we found sooo many beautiful and interesting items and bought a few at reasonable prices. We had a lovely chat the whole time and I will definitely be coming back to see anything I missed! Thank you for saving...
