I figured after 10 years I would try eating here, again. Very disappointed! Hostess tried seating us under some contractors working on ladders. I told her I didn't want to sit under the ladders, and requested to be moved. It was early, so there were alot of empty tables. The hostess seemed generally upset because I was messing up her seating chart. Once seated, the waitress asked what we wanted for drinks. I wanted a draft beer. The waitress asked 16 or 20 oz. I said what the heck, a 20 oz. After she brought drinks she notified me that it was happy hour and 16 oz drafts are $2. She should have said that at the beginning when we ordered drinks! I ordered a ribeye steak and my wife ordered a steak salad, kids had the usual. I grew up in a butcher shop, so I take my steak seriously. $25 for a 14 oz Ribeye is expensive, so it better be a good steak. My wife and I both wanted our steak medium-rare. The food came promptly . The kids food was ok. However, my steak came out on a scalding hot fajitia skillet. It was so hot I was getting splattered with sizzling grease. I had to move back and I couldn't touch my steak for at least 5 minutes. Needless to say, that steak was shoe leather by the time I could eat it. I get the cool presentation thing, but that's not the way to present a steak. Also, The steak was very thin. Definitively not worth the money!! The steak on my wife's salad was cooked very inconsistent. The steak pieces ranged from well done to close to raw. My wife likes her on the rare side, but had to send a few pieces back for additional cook time. I don't think I will...

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice (I am not coming back). I had a bad experience maybe 6 months ago and I thought, “its been a while since the family has partaken in Cecil’s, why not hit them up for dinner?” The place was empty, so I thought we’d be in and out. Nope. Service was unacceptably slow despite the place having more staff present than customers. The “microwave child pizza”, according to my daughter was “yucky daddy.” My wife’s Asian chicken salad had her take three bites and push the plate the side. My steak cooked medium rare was not ready for prime time either, coupled with the dirty steak knife I was fast losing my patience. I could almost forgive the cold “steamed Brockley” but for the second time, I got jambalaya that was scraped from the bottom of the container and just plain awful. The ramekin had more burnt bits than edible rice. I paid the bill so fast to leave I didn’t bother to look at the check… but after working on this review I am a little lost. Boudin balls: $8.59 Duck wontons: $8.99 Asian chicken and spinach salad: $15.99 Cecil’s ribeye: $25.99 Child pizza: XX, X1 glass of white wine: XX, X1 Soft drink: XX, X1 child drink: XX, how was this $99.01? A while ago this was our regular once a week spot. Last night was the sign we need to venture out a...

Wait staff has been on point every time and out food experiences are not on them. We have gone more than once over the past few years for different reasons, mainly others wanting to eat there.

Each time our food was cooked incorrectly, undercooked each time. This last, and final time, we went my husband ordered the grilled chicken breast. What was served was horrible. Not even 4 oz of actual chicken. Burnt and unstable. Plus, over done waffle fries. This plate is over $15. You get a thicker piece of chicken at chic fil a. The manager on duty confirmed that was the chicken breast dinner. My husband had her take it back as he refused to eat it let alone be charged such an outrageous price for it. Others at our table had issues as well. Cold fries, thin boiled looking piece of beef that was supposed to be prime rib. My steak salad was sent back due to many of the pieces being raw. Came back out after supposedly being remade, still raw. Only upside was the father we were celebrating, on Father's day, recieved a perfectly cooked meal.

We will not be...

This place has the potential to be really good, but first it needs a good cleaning. I had to clean the back of my booth off because my arm stuck to it as i was getting in to sit down. So I cleaned the back and top of the back. Our waiter (Austin) was awesome. He was very polite and on his game. We never once had to ask for anything. Ok down to business..The Food. I had the Cecil’s Special and honestly I was not impressed at all. The meat was dry, the gravy was...I don’t know what the gravy was. There was no flavor. Being a Cajun Restaurant I expect Cajun Flavors and Seasoning. The Cecils Special was basically just a plain sandwich. We ordered a side of Fried Okra, which would have been good if it were not cold and soggy. My wife had the Fried Fish, Fries and Jambalaya. The Fish was well seasoned and juicy, the fries were good and the Jambalaya was just ok. Everyone cooks Jambalaya different and maybe its just their recipe but it doesn’t taste homemade, it taste like it was a prepackaged mix. Overall The place needs a cleaning and I feel like the food is lacking.

I’d give this place more stars if I could. First off, the hosts/hostess took down our number for our party to call us when a table was available. That should be standard across all restaurants. As soon as you walk in you are received with the traditional southern hospitality that many people desire. Treat people how you would to be treated. The server we had was on top of her stuff. We never had to ask for refills as she was constantly filling our drinks. Food came out in a timely manner. The live music was great and she had a variety of vocal ranges. My hats off to her. The food. I got the fried catfish tacos with onion rings. The onion rings could use a little bit of work, but I do understand it was a little busy so no worries. The batter on the catfish alone was absolutely loaded with flavor. Then once you get the bite with the mellow cabbage, that wicked banging sauce and pico it was just depth after depth of flavor. Best fish tacos I’ve ever had in my life hands down. Overall this place is comforting to sit down and just eat. 10/10
