Maybe we came on an "off night." But this place had decent reviews and we were excited to try. Hostess was great! Waited for over 30 minutes for a server. We're the kind of people that if you bring us drinks, we'll happily wait for as long as it takes. It was an hour and half before we got bread & drinks on our table (mind you, there were a few open tables). Then we got to order. Salads were good but took a bit to get. Entrée's were a mixed bag. Husband got the halibut....Large portion but dry on the outside & perfectly most and flaky on the inside (overdone). Daughter got the chicken parm. Chicken was heavily breaded & incredibly salty while the sauce was under seasoned. (Not a good mix). I ate the leftovers and just cast the chicken aside. Fresh tomatoe sauce was a nice change, though! It's a taste that isn't duplicated. I got the pork chop (w/ sauce of the day, bourbon... which i love). Chop was so over cooked, while not getting the option of how I would like it. Sorry, but pork is very similar to beef (we all have our preferences if you know meat: med-rare, medium, or well done, etc). I prefer my pork juicy & tender (med/rare to medium). Pork was inedible, it was so tough. Mashed potatoes were so incredibly salty that it made the bourbon sauce way too sweet. Just a bad mix. We sincerely appreciate the fact they use local produce & meat. Huge plus! This should be a requirement for any quality restaurant! Quality of output was very low, though, for the cost of Entrée's. The drinks were "eh." They could've made a lot of $ off us if they had just "watered us' properly. We didn't know this restaurant before we came so we didn't have any...
Read moreTL;DR: Service is sub-par, portions are extremely small (we ate elsewhere afterward), the food was lukewarm at best, and it tasted as if it came out of a frozen bag.
Where to begin? The hostess was very nice. Unfortunately, that's where the niceties end. After we sat down, we waited about 10 minutes before we were greeted by our waitress, even though the restaurant was not very busy. The menu is fairly small, with no side dishes. Almost all of their seafood is shrimp, in one form or another. We both ordered the three-cheese ravioli, and what we got was not what we were expecting.
I had 6 ravioli and my son had 4. They were lukewarm at best, and looked and tasted as if they came out of a frozen bag. The menu had a variety of cheeses that were supposedly in them, but it seemed as if there were only one or two. The amount of cheese inside was minimal, and the portion size was that of an appetizer, at best.
After we finished our meal in three to four minutes, our waitress didn't come back to check on us for another ten minutes. When we addressed how small the meal was, she said it was one of the smallest meals on the menu, and that she wouldn't have gotten it. Although it's an upcharge, we would've appreciated a salad; however, this was never offered to us. Keep in mind that our meals were $19 each! After we left, we had to find another place to eat. 9-9 There is no need to call in response. Your portions and prices are set, But not appropriate for the quality served. The review...
Read moreWhat a difference a year makes! My husband and I don't eat out very often as we both have food allergies. I am Celiac, and need to be dairy free as I am allergic to the protein in dairy products. My husband is allergic to onions and garlic. Last year we had a wonderful experience at What if. The waitstaff were very attentive to our dietary restrictions as well as the chef, who made sure we ate safely. Not so much this year. We told our waitress of our dietary needs, I repeated them three times during our order and she said she was writing them down. When served, I ordered filet mignon with lumpcrab, not a cheap meal, the crab was in a cheese sauce. I questioned the sauce and she confirmed that it was a cheese sauce. I reminded her that I was allergic to dairy. She looked at me with "the deer in the headlights" look. She took the meal back and then the manager came over and asked if they could just scrap the sauce off. Really????? Was she not understanding of food allegies? And is that an appropriate response from a high-end restaurant? I think not. I reminded her of my food allergies, which are not a lifestyle choice. I waited 20 more minutes for my meal as the others at the table ate. My meal came back with an over done steak and very soggy vegetables. As everyone was done at the table and I was hungry, I ate the meal. I should have sent it back but wasn't willing to wait another 20 minutes. My question to them...did they just rinse the filet mignon off and recook it since it was...
