During our visit from Riverview, FL, we stumbled upon MaryAnn's Diner in Derry, NH, and it felt like stepping into a time machine back to the 1950s. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by the nostalgic décor and the staff, who were dressed in classic 50s attire. The atmosphere was enhanced by the music of the era, creating a warm, inviting, and retro vibe that made us feel like we were part of a simpler, yet remarkable, time. The diner boasts an extensive breakfast and lunch menu with options for everyone. My girlfriend and I decided to stick with a classic breakfast: two eggs over easy, deliciously crispy home fries, and perfectly toasted bread. I also added a side of bacon, which was cooked to perfection. The portions were generous, and the flavors were spot-on. Despite the diner being quite busy, the staff managed to serve everyone with efficiency and a smile. Our waitress, Susie, was especially fantastic—sweet, attentive, and welcoming, which added to the overall positive experience. We’re already looking forward to our next visit to New Hampshire so we can stop by again and try something from their lunch menu. If you’re ever in Derry, MaryAnn's Diner is a must-visit for anyone looking for a great meal and a delightful trip back in time

A local took me here and its reputation was good. I come from years of hospitality and food service from high volume production to high end management. I have an idea of how things should work. Walking in, we were greeted quickly and cheerfully; the staff was all quite busy. We were seated in a booth by the windows and a server came by reasonably quickly to take our order. We had a sausage benedict and a classic breakfast. Our drinks came quickly, and the food in a reasonable amount of time considering the business level. The food was just what one expects from a retro diner. Nothing special and sort of bland. Deep fried potatoes had been in a holding bin or on heat for a while, but not too bad, just a little tough and warm, not hot. Bland gravy, but perfectly poached eggs, and the classic breakfast was one of those things that can't be messed up too badly. BUT... looking around as we waited for food, the place was filthy. All the booths around us had trash on the floor and spills and/or crumbs on the seats. We watched a busser clean off the table top and just wipe down the top onto, and ignoring the seats. After we got up from the table my partner noticed I had sat in something that had stained my clothes. This is not how a well run operation of many five star reviews should operate. The service was adequate, that's it. She took the order, brought the food, checked back once, and brought the bill. Nice enough, just nothing special. I would take a good look around before agreeing to be seated.

Breakfast here is very good. I bought an “Elvis Presley Breakfast” which included two eggs, toast, pan fries, sausage and corned beef hash for $12.99. The bottomless cup of coffee was $2.79 for a total with tax $17.12. That is because I used a credit card. The reason I gave it 4 stars is the real bill in cash would’ve been $16.46 but they charge a 3.86% credit card fee. They call it a cash discount, but I call it a credit card fee. You’re a restaurant. Part of your business expenses is acceoting credit cards and paying the credit card fee. But since they want to play that game, I just lowered my normally generous tip to the waitress by 4% and wasn’t so generous as I usually am. I do not patronize a business that charges a credit card fee.(or gives a cash discount) so I will not be going back here even though I’ve been going here for decades. I’ll return when the credit card fee goes away.

We were so excited when we saw this diner—it is a beautiful example of a quintessentially classic diner, both inside and out. Now, while it is cute with its classic diner aesthetic, it needs a good thorough cleaning, and likely should replace its menus as soon as possible. I think the uniforms for the waitstaff (waitresses) is too much and would be better a bit toned down or updated with the 50’s or just that vintage era style in mind. Now most importantly is the food—it’s good, not great, but it’s good, and the prices and portions are good and fair. It’s really cute and it’s definitely busy, but it could be such a great, great diner with just a good thorough cleaning top to bottom and updating the menus and waitstaff uniforms.
