Coa Cantina — Restaurant in Des Moines

I took my sister out for her birthday and we just had the worst time in this place!! The sign says seat yourself which we did, we sat at the table for 20 minutes before one of our friends went and found someone. Finally the waitress comes over and takes our order.. we ordered our drinks and food we also asked for water with lemon, the waitress brings the water with no lemon, my friend reminded her we asked for lemon in the water, she brings the food the nachos are terribly made why is the cheese on the bottom of nacho? She finally brings the lemon to our table we were already finished by this point!! After this terrible service they charged my card way more then what the total was!! I called and asked why the manager told me she didn’t add tax how do you give someone a set amount to pay then charge tax? The other issue he said should fall off? The other problem is when the waitress came over to take our order the waitress asked for a card they could put on file before we could order then they charge your card 4% of your bill!!! One thing for sure and two things for certain I will never come back to this...

Went in this past Sunday to have a few drinks and some food. Was mainly looking to have some drinks. Sat down with my cousin who joined me for the evening since we had a concert to attend later on. We thought the bar area would be better to try out drinks so we choose that area. They have a patio, inside and downstairs dining it seemed like.

Anyhow we had to flag the bartender down because it seemed like he was the only one there. He was kind of rude rushing to get our order and then the rest of the stay we had to get his attention to get his service. Both had a vegan chorizo taco that was tasty. We shared a queso with chips and chorizo. Queso was delicious I’d give it a 8/10. Enjoyed a mango coa margarita with a delicious rim of what seemed like tajin. Honestly we would of enjoyed another drink or three but seeing how the service was bad we decided to just leave.

I was a regular customer, loved the environment and Adem had the best customer service and made the best magaritas. However July 11, I was charged twice we let them know, since it was pending they wouldn’t refund us, which is fine however it’s still pending today. We ordered margaritas and again I’m a regular customer it’s always came in a margarita glass the bartender put them in a plastic cup. And when we looked at our surroundings no other person had plastics cups. When I took my drinks back in and asked for a glass the bartender was extremely rude. Not only that we ordered guacamole and chips and it took 45 minutes, so by the time we got our appetizer our drinks were already gone. I’ve never had this experience here. It’s always been a vibe, great drinks, great people, fast service. But this day made me no longer want to be a customer.
