We've been coming here since the beginning! Zap has been with us through thick and thin! Single, then married then with kids. It's the only place that I strongly recommend to anyone asking where the good spots are in Desert Hot Springs. I've worked in many restaurants and I've been to many as well, I'll tell you that this is one of the CLEANEST, FRESHEST, GREAT FOOD, BEST SERVICE establishments that I've ever visited. I am a stickler for consistency and time and they've always provided exactly what I have expected! The owner has even seen our exhausted parent selves when we've managed to sit down to eat instead of order to go and he's provided us THE WORLDS BEST CHAVELAS on the house! This is a great relationship to have with your local Mexican restaurant people, it's a forever memory for us! A staple in our community. Thank you to everyone at Zapopan for all the hard work and integrity you put into your day to day duties, it really shows in the food and experience.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
Read moreCame here 2 days in a row. The first day I ordered their red wet asada burrito which was verrrry delicious 10/10. It was just a tad on the salty side but it was very good. I also got their horchata which was pretty good, nothing crazy 7/10. I came back today for a Taco Salad, Carnitas Torta, & 2 Tacos (1 Birria, 1 asada). I was excited to try their taco salad but it was missing flavor. It was light which I enjoyed but I wish it had more flavor 7/10 the tostada it comes on is bland itself a little more seasoning on the meat would probably help. The carnita torta was bland overall even with salsa it didn’t add much flavor. The salsa itself was bland - 6.5/10. The birria taco was soggy and missing flavor. The asada taco was better, I liked that it had enough onion and cilantro. Overall more seasoning or salsas with flavor would really help the food out. I do like that they have a Huge selection of food items & their service was great. The prices are also...
Read moreThe only place to get your breakfast burrito fix in Desert Hot Springs. I had the Chorizo, Huevo y Papa (Mexican Sausage, Egg, Potato, Beans & Cheese). The size was substantial which makes it perfect for brunch. The balance of ingredients was about right and the Chorizo had a little bit of crunch which was most welcome. I was also impressed by the staff and the cleanliness of the Zapopan it was a nice easy experience. While I waited for the order I picked up a coffee at Starbucks right next door.
UPDATE: Today I tried the Chicken Burrito. I called ahead to make sure the chicken was grilled not shredded. The pieces of chicken were very small and I didn't get the grilled flavor I was expecting. The burrito was still nice but I was really hoping for pieces of yummy grilled chicken I could bite on. I took one star off...
