We left the DAC and decided to explore a little. We wound up on E. Grand Blvd and weren't able to get into Freya next door. I poked my head into Dragonfly and it was surprisingly bereft of life. My neighbor had mentioned that the drinks were great, but we needed food for my HANGRY wife. I immediately ordered her a gorgeous Spanish white wine. Txakolina Xarmant, it is now a new favorite of ours. We ordered the cabbage salad 🥗 mussels, amd noodles 🍜 to start. The cabbage was bright, fresh and light. The mussels were borderline perfection, as was the outstanding fried rice. I didn't know what to expect but it wasn't this, supassing expectations. The fried rice was simply JOYOUS! Every target on my palate was squarely hit, bullseye 🎯!!!!!! We then ordered the Wagyu sandwich to share and ended up ordering three more. What an incredible construction and amalgam of flavors. Amanda was our server and was good. The gentleman behind the bar made me an incredible drink after my giving him only a few prompts. He used Appleton rum for my citrus forward and righteous cocktail. The Cabernet Ormond was an incredible find at a great price point. Big, bold, tanic, balanced and not cloying in the least. The Big Boy cocktail satisfied on many levels. Boozy, gourmand, animistic aromatics, a slight gameyness. Just delightful! We shared the coconut/yuzu biscuit and it was perfectly named. I would have preferred a touch more moisture, but then it wouldn't have been a biscuit. We will ALL 4 be back!!! Kudos to the Chef. Can't wait to meet you.

On a Wednesday after stopping at Campus Martius, my friend group of four stopped at Dragonfly for their Christmas pop-up bar, The Miracle. The entrance door was not marked well to find the entry. The place was entirely empty, and it was very uncertain if they were open or not. The staff was also not super welcoming. Our drinks were pleasant in appearance. However, two of our drinks were absolutely awful. We waited around for the server to attend to our table. Once he appeared, we addressed the concern of the ill-tasting $14 drinks. Our concern was not handled well and easily dismissed by the bartender/staff member. It was pushed off and blamed on the pop-up company, which I do understand, but there was no concern for the customer. Including one of the drinks that was recommended by staff members. Lastly, gratituty at 20 percent was already included for terrible service. We did not order food with this visit.

Decided to go to Dragonfly after seeing that its sister restaurant, Freya, was more of a tasting menu and that's not something I'm a fan of. I was not disappointed by Dragonfly! The happy hour is awesome with great deals on cocktails and on food. I attached a photo of the menu. Our drinks were delicious with a ton of flavors. We split the hummus, which came with fresh, warm pita bread. I don't like beets so I avoided those, but my wife said they paired really well with the hummus. I then got the chicken sandwich, which was actually two sandwiches that were pretty good size, and she got the walleye. Everything had a ton of flavor, and the atmosphere inside the restaurant was really cool. Can't wait to go back!
