Was visiting from Dallas for work. Chose to come by because of the ethos of the shop. Then I saw the reviews, and it was done. The staff was very friendly and open. The cafe had a part factory/part coffee shop look and feel, which I loved. Industry meets The Earth, y’know? I had the Sepia roast, and it was light yet bold. Totally held its own. The taste was smooth. It was so damn good, I decided to buy a bag. I had a savory scone and chocolate chip cookie too, and yeah- everything was delicious. Coming here was a total jackpot. I’ve been home for over two weeks now, and I have to get another bag (ordering online).

SEPIA coffee project is a standout cafĂ© that beautifully honors Detroit’s rich history and spirit. Located in a neighborhood that’s full of character, this coffee roaster offers more than just great coffee—it’s a space that feels deeply connected to the city’s roots. The coffee is roasted to perfection, and you can taste the passion and expertise in every cup. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and full of local charm, making it the perfect spot for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Detroit vibes. Definitely worth a visit!!

I visited from Tokyo, Sepia was highly recommended to me, I was not disappointed 😊 Great place to learn about speciality coffee! They have some of the best beans in town. I tried the Ratnagiri Estate, Peaberry and Ethiopian. Both were great! I bought the Ethiopian, and enjoy it everyday on cold drip. Notes are prefect 👌 Sometimes on a rainy day I make a pour-over, the acidity is great 😊 Highly recommend for coffee lovers ☕

Best coffee in the D. Experts in coffee, cordiality, and chill.

Martell is a coffee Guru, a shaman in modern wear, healing and reconnecting our community with the art and culture of coffee.

What keeps me coming back to Sepia is the brilliance and hospitality of Head Roaster Martell Mason. And, the sophisticated and bold flavors chosen for the roasting collection.

Their Dalia roast is the best cup of coffee i have ever had in my entire life. "It's just coffee; hot bean water..." a naive version of myself thought before my palate was delighted by the depth and richness of that very first cup. Time and time again i return to reassess, "was it really, that good?" And the answer is always YES. 'Twas like comprehending and resonating with the lyrics to a love song for the first time; or, that grateful feeling of warmth from the Sun after a long grey winter.

The Sepia project is a privilege to have in this city. I've Always been greeted with warmth from the staff and a comfortable environment to stay and work, catch up with a friend, or simply just to sit, sip, enjoy and rejoy my cup of Black magic we...
