I previously had an order here and it was delicious. The jerk chicken had a reminisce of grilled ribs; which is great when you're trying to eat healthier but have a good BBQ craving. My cousin ordered the meal before, so it would be the exact same I had him order this time as well. As soon as you walk in there is a Check Your Food Before You Leave Sign. So I do. I doesn't look anything like the meal I had before (other than it was chicken and a side). I told them the cabbage didn't look done like before; and that the chicken was more of a dry rub with the marinade from the chicken on it. They proceeded to tell me I was incorrect unless it was grilled. I said it was supposed to be grilled. Then she said that sauce is always used (she was contradictory, she just said it looks like that on grilled jerk chicken). I also said last time I had much more chicken than what they gave this time. Their solution was to add four chunks and a bunch more sauce. Most jerk chicken don't have a bunch of sauce on it. Checking ypur food before you leave doesn't do any good. Buyer beware. I also had to yell over the music. And I kept tell I g the girl the music was louder than her that she needed to speak up. No she rather me climb over the counter for her!! She also told me multiple times that I went to the wrong place. They had my order, by name; and we drove there twice. How did I go to the wrong place both times?

Make sure to call ahead as all the food is made to order, so be prepared to wait if you don't. Although I waited for 20 minutes, I didn't mind on that particular day. I opted for the Jerk Chicken Large Lunch deal, which came with a side of plantains, beans and rice (they refer to beans as peas), and a warm cabbage salad. I also ordered a beef patty, a chicken curry patty, two Coco breads, and a small rum cake. The meal was more than enough to feed two people. The Jerk Chicken was outstanding! It had a spicy kick to it that I would describe as similar to the spiciness level of Thai food at a medium+ level. The dish was very flavorful and delicious. The plantains were decent and not too sweet, starchy, or greasy. The warm cabbage salad had a touch of acidity to it, and it paired well with the Jerk chicken. Although the patties I ordered didn't have any vegetables, they were quite tasty. I preferred the beef patty over the chicken curry one. The Coco bread was a huge, soft, yeasty bun that was delightful to eat. It was slightly sweet, but I enjoyed its soft and spongy texture. The only item that didn't impress me much was the rum cake. It had a strong dark rum flavor without any sweetness to balance it out. I prefer to have something sweet after spicy food, so I didn't enjoy it as much. Fortunately, the rest of the meal was phenomenal!

This is the best Jamaican restaurant Thts in Mi I Dnt knw where to really start but the customer service is unmatched and the food quality is too . The owner treat everyone like they her family and always want you Satisfied, the The pepper steak is to die for the steak literally melts in your mouth and all the dessert and drinks are on point. I have been to other Jamaican and Caribbean restaurants and Ben let down and honestly the food was disgusting and the price was outrageous. It’s the total opposite that you’re making pie. I suggest you asked about the cocoa bread. OMG it is delicious and the sweet potato brownies I can go on and on, but all it would take you this one time to try it out and you will see. No I do not work there and this is not a pay advertisement. I am just openly telling you the truth you got to try it.

The food is fantastic (hence the 2 stars), but this place is known in my book for SELDOMLY having what they having items advertised for sale. I've been trying to support this business for over a year now, even recommending people, and buying them food... but DAMN do they make it hard! I only had their Fried Dumplings once, and even that was a weird experience to say the least. I ordered 3 and some Dread with a screw face said to me "Yah wann 5 fried dumpling?"... I'm like "no, just 3." He replies "Me cook you 5 fried dumpling!" Even the cashier was looking like 'WTF?', and she was courteous enough to charge me for 3, even though he cooked me 5! They were DELICIOUS, but they never have them anymore!

The last straw was yesterday (March 28th 2019 around 1pm), when I was calling in an order. I was on W. Chicago and Telegraph at the time, and they told me to 'please hold'. I didn't have a problem, only that I was hung up on, and had to call back. Next time was the same thing; 'please hold' and the line would disconnect. Not to mention, I was on hold for so damn long, I almost forgot I was on the phone! After the THIRD TIME, I was LITERALLY down the street from them. By the time I got hung up on again I was in the plaza.

As soon as I walked in, you know what they asked me? "Did you call in for your order?" I damn near got heated when I explained what happened. I asked if the Jerk Oxtails were ready, and SHOCKINGLY they were. But they didn't have any Patties! It's already bad enough that they NEVER have chicken patties, but they didn't have ANY at all. I just lost my appetite for their food and left disappointed.

I follow them on Facebook, and apparently they are building a new location Downtown.... how in the hell are you gonna pull that off, when you can't even get things right at...

Judging from other reviews this one probably wouldn't make any difference. However, I just want to prepare customers for what to expect. Food tastes good with a constant stream of customers for good reason. However, expect to wait an extremely long time to get your food with very poor customer service due to poor managment. I visited on a Friday afternoon which was in between normal meal times. It was very crowded and had 4 people waiting in front of me for their order. I placed my order after having to flag down somebody to take it. I was told 20-25 minutes before it would be ready. After waiting over 40 minutes it still wasn't ready! Now Jamaican food is not made to order and must be made in advance. How can it possibly take that long to scoop out dishes into cartons to send it out? Looking into the back I see people slowly shuffling around and taking their sweet time. Obviously not concerned about customer service. When you have a huge list of people waiting to get their order shouldn't you be hustling to send food out? Obviously they have plenty of business that they don't care. Listening to many customers complaining about service it's obvious to me this place doesn't place any emphasis on customer service. So in the end I finally received my order one full hour after placing it. It's utterly ridiculous to wait that long for food to be scooped out of a pot into a foam carton. Anyone visiting should expect good food but don't expect any type of service because they really don't care. Oh btw don't forget to double check your order after you get it because if they make a mistake which they often do you will have to wait another hour to...

Sadly, I was completely unimpressed with this restaurant. Before visiting I went online to check out the menu, and saw that they served oxtail. Mind you, when mi pull up ah di restaurant, oxtails * with an S, was showcased on the window. That is a red flag my friends 🚫. The three stars are for the customer service and the curry goat being edible. We were allowed samples of the meat, and the goat was okay, the oxtail had no flavour, and the jerk chicken isn't proppa jerk chicken, it's a bbq jerk chicken singting. Ordered a large curry goat and a small jerk. The rice and plantain was so pinch and the meat is all cut up like every customer a pickney. We had to ask about the portion sizes ( $15 for large ) and the cashier wanted to charge us. As we we're leaving, she came out and brought us a side of rice, which was sweet.

Please don't play yourself and think you know Authentic Jamaican food, eating from here. Supposedly, the owner Rose used to cook back in the day and she had the sweet touch. Alas, it is the present day and the food can't gwan.

Patois used in this review for flavour Signed: a half Jamaican, half Trinidadian

Update: in response to whoever decided to respond to my review. Why would I need to write “fake news” ? lol I’m from Toronto and I know my authentic food. Your response was very unprofessional, but I’m not even surprised lol. Fox News.? Okay beloved..are they even West...
