If you're into sweet sweets, you'll love the "sweet" waffles. They were a bit too sweet for my liking and the toppings/ flavor took away from the waffle. I had the caramel candied pecan and the strawberry cheesecake. I fully expected the strawberry cheesecake to have cheesecake bits, it did not, however, the drizzle, fresh strawberries and "cheesecake surprise", was doable. The waffle was very light and fluffy. Chicken bites were very well seasoned, a decent portion for the price. The catfish bites were seasoned VERY well and cooked perfectly, a bit thicker and I'd call them beignets. The flavored lemonade, very berry, stole the show... delicious... size could be a bit larger for cost. Ambiance is very nice, kind of like a coffee/ tea shop vibe. Food its made to order so pack your patients and don't be too hungry. Quality of the food items were so good that even upon reheating it, the integrity was still there! Added more butter to the waffles and that cut the sweetness down drastically and brought the flavor of the caramel pecan through! I plan to return and try a basic waffle just to see how it taste. I'd really love to try their Sunday brunch menu, on a carry out basis: by the way, you have to order carryout online, no over the phone orders. I think it would get crowded quickly for Sunday brunch. This is a black owned and operated family business. Which had donated food during UAW strike and it was greatly appreciated! Support those that support you....I too live in the community this business is located, so I try to...

I normally don't even leave reviews but I felt it was appropriate to let people know my experience at this restaurant. For starters, this place is very small and the seating is limited. The service wasn't that great. Normally when you go somewhere to eat, they start you off with waters. We never received any water at all...The food wasn't good at all. And I wasn't a b#%h about it. I just simply told them I didn't like my food at all. The chicken bites were flavorless. The waffles could've been decent if they had better syrup. We could've had a bad batch or sugar-free idk but it was disgusting and made the whole meal nasty. I simply told the waiter and the manager Cam had a nasty attitude when i tried explaining to him what i didn't like about my meal. He disregarded me and told me he doesn't need to know the details, just what i had to refund me. Then he was talking loud saying "they still paying for their drinks". Like money was an issue. We simply did not like our food and even the waiter tried the syrup and said it was nasty. Then on top of that, the manager cam attempted to charge us for water that we never received. It seemed like he was being petty. His actions weren't professional and he's the reason I decided to write this review. All in all, i would never come back to this establishment. They did give us a full refund and my mom received a free mimosa from the bartender. Everyone except Cam was understanding and...

Was the first time we visited we attending to watch the performance of someone we knew..ordered food out food was taking to a different table as my husband watched the other party open the container & look into the container he suddenly while the female realized oh that’s not your ordered he asked for a replacement order..the young lady that was behind the counter had an attitude to sum it up I think she would of done the same thing if she had any professionalism about herself who wants to eat food not only at the wrong table but you look at it and put it up to your face that’s a no no for me but the attitude of the lady was off balance one reason why & I hate to say it but I rarely patronize our own kind when it comes to business being a business owner ourselves I’m really Big!!.on customer service so after that not sure if she refilled the order and brought us out the same food it was not bad at all…just maybe need to practice better customer service & value your...

Yeah so ummmmm don't believe Mr.ChimeTime hyped up reviews on Waffle Cafe Detroit . It's very small. When I say small you'll have to ask the ppl next to you to move scoot over to go to the restroom or get out. The food is decent not the greatest, I've honestly had better. We had a 12:45 reservation and it took 20 minutes to be seated with 2 empty tables. After being seated it took another 1/2 before our order was taken. The service was not so great. We asked for salt and pepper, we were told it was in the plastic ware packets. Once we received our food (an hour later) it came out separate and cold (some of us ate before others). It was an experience but I'll more than likely never go back. The Sunday menu is very limited and you can not do walk-ins on Sunday Reservations only. I love supporting my Black-owned businesses but yeah it's a no-thanks for me 😒.

The curb appearance draws you in. Once inside, you are in such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There are couches and small tables for intimate conversations. There are two ways to order (with a person or a kiosk). I opted for the kiosk cause I like tech but love good customer service as well when combined and neither disappointed! I chose the Very Berry with some catfish bites. I wanted something natural sweet, and this combination doesn't disappoint AT ALL!! It's a berry party on this waffle. It is very flavorable and light 😋 and the catfish bites complement the waffle well. I will definitely be a regular. It's one of the BEST waffles I've had in some time, and their combinations are genius. Reminds you of crepe flavors both savory and sweet options.
