Ate here last night and was so disappointed. We had a party of 8, so we absolutely understood that it would take a while, but waiting 30 minutes just for our drinks is not okay. Our waitress did not know the menu at all.. we even had to go up to the bar to take a picture of the drink menu because she didn’t know anything that was on it. We got 6 of the 8 drinks (fishbowls) when she told us they didn’t have enough containers to put 8 of them in. In a big place like Grotto, not having enough fishbowls to put your FEATURED drink in?? That doesn’t really make sense, but the two people who didn’t get their drinks just ordered a different one, which was fine.. Then I asked the waitress how much alcohol was in the drink, because i didn’t taste anything, and she went to ask the bartender (took another half hour) and she came back and said she just filled the whole bottom with alcohol. As a bartender, you should know how many ounces or how long your pour is... THEN our order was so completely wrong that our waitress LAUGHED when she found out one of my friends didn’t even get their entree.. she never put it in. Also, my friend ordered 24 wings and received boneless bites and were told they didn’t come in 24, when we ordered it off the menu?? We then asked to speak to a manager because we could not believe how terrible our visit was for one of favorite chain restaurants. The manager then came over and he looked pretty young. He was looking so annoyed with us, when all we wanted to do was prevent such chaos from happening to another table. We are all in our early 20’s that we were trying to be so understanding because all of us have worked in a restaurant, but this was just totally unacceptable. The manager took off the wings and a $6-7 from everyone’s check, but we will not be returning and I’m almost certain this restaurant will not last very long if the management doesn’t change. DO NOT GO TO THIS...
Read moreWanted to check out this place while in Delaware after hearing about how delicious the food is, it was disappointing to say the least. Our waitress was rude and seemed frazzled the entire time we were there. I asked for several menu items if the chef could not add cheese as everything is made to order and Im vegan. She told me that they couldn't do that and that the dough had eggs and cheese in it. that my only option was a salad. Not to mention that she continuously cut off my party and I in the middle of asking questions / rudely spoke over us saying , "yep, yep YEP" and ran off.I asked another wait staff and they informed me that this was not the case at all, that none of the doughs had eggs and that no cheese was an easy fix. The only reason im giving 2 stars is because of the few competent wait staff who helped us while our original waitress would disappear for 20 +...
Read moreI love Grotto pizza, and always like to stop and get some when we're in the area. This visit was....not great. The pizza was good, as always. We also ordered Bruschetta as an appetizer, which did not disappoint. My husband and son also ordered a calzone to share. Hubby loved it, but my son...not so much. It was VERY heavy on the garlic. The waitress was fantastic, too, thankfully. The disappointment came with our seating, the decor, and surprisingly, the ice. We tried 3 different tables before finding seats that were not ripped or sagging so badly it was like sitting on the floor. The decor and seating are desperately in need of a remodel. Then there was the ice. My son had a piece of ice in his Sprite that had some reddish orange blob frozen into it. YUCK! Finally, the bill came. It was way too high for the food that we got. Grotto pizza, please don't make me skip...
