Extremely disappointing experience at TipSea Taco in Dewey Beach. I stopped by this evening and placed my order through the self-serve computer screen, selecting a burrito/protein bowl. After placing the order, entering my name, receiving an order number, and paying, I waited… and waited. Twenty minutes went by. I noticed other groups received their food, but mine never came.
Eventually, a staff member asked if I had ordered—clearly realizing something was wrong. I confirmed that I had. She said they never received my order. I was then told they needed to call the owner (who was not on-site) to investigate.
Turns out, according to the owner, my order “got lost” because her daughter was changing the menu on the system while I was ordering—essentially blaming a glitch on their side. My order, I was told, was the only one that encountered this issue.
At this point, I’d been waiting 30+ minutes. I declined their offer to make the food and asked for a refund. I was told it could take up to three days to get my money back. When I was put on the phone with the owner, I was shocked by her rude and unprofessional tone—she was impatient, defensive, and even snapped at me for “getting her on the phone” because she couldn’t process a refund and talk at the same time.
Needless to say, I will never return to TipSea Taco and would advise others to proceed with caution. Technical issues can happen—but how you treat your customers when they do makes all the difference. This was a total failure on every level: communication, accountability, and...
Read moreThe name Tipsea Taco is super clever. The entire experience was weird though. When we walked in, the two young employees greeted us with disinviting looks (almost made us question if they were closed), but it was definitely within operating hours. We ordered our food via a kiosk and the menu sounded good with a variety of tacos, smash tacos, açaí bowels etc. It was about 5-6 dollars a taco. The food came out and was disappointing. The basic chicken taco was small and falling apart with no flavor. The smash burger taco tasted like a mcdonalds burger and had the weirdest texture. I don’t recommend, and won’t be back. Rather spend my money at Taco Reho where it is welcoming...
Read moreYikes! We came here because this place had 4.8 stars, which was very misleading. The staff seemed very uninterested in talking or interacting. One of my friends ordered queso and it took fifteen minutes before I felt the need to approach the counter to ask about it. When I did the two people I interacted with struggled with English. Nothing against the young girls, but it did make it hard to ask questions.
The food itself was just fine and unfortunately the atmosphere did not make up for it. The seating area was small and filled with two seating options for about six-eight people each. Nothing good for a group of...
