While the food we had was really good and the interaction that we had with one of the employees was very off putting. Upon arrival we were able to find a table right away and asked what drinks we would like right away. My two kids had a positive interactions with who I would assume was one of the owners or a family member of the owner. At one point of time, he snuck my kids a broken cookie and told them they can eat it before the food came and not to tell his wife!
Where we sat and the chair I sat in you could only look towards the front dining area if you looked elsewhere, it would seem like you were staring at other people. As we were still waiting for our food, I was looking straight ahead just minding my own business and talking to my children, one of the employees (who I would assume is the owners daughter or family member of the owner due to the resemblance) looked at me and said “what is it that you are waiting for?” If she didn’t have the tone I would have thought she genuinely cared but her tone did not come off that way. But my response was “just our food we ordered.” I completely understand that they had been slammed after we came in but I’m still a customer and if we were done, we would have gone to the register to pay and left.
A couple minutes after getting our food, I told my kids to just eat quickly as they were closing in 30 minutes. I never felt so rush eating before at a restaurant but we were. Before I was done eating the daughter/one of the employees asked what we had so she can close out. Once told, she came back and said, “it looks like you have a cookie too so you can just pay for it upfront”. At this point of time I was already feelings rushed and off put by this employee that I just said “yes we will pay for it when we go up to pay for our meals”.
I would have loved it to give this local, family owned small business a great review as my salad was delicious, my son’s sandwich was really good, and my daughter's soup and bread smelled amazing but unfortunately one employee can ruin a customers experience.
This was only our second time coming in and I know my business won’t matter to them but not sure if we will be back...
Read moreOverall I would rate my overall experience 4 stars. Urban eats is my go to for lunch in DeWitt. The salads and Sandwiches are always so fresh. The dill dressing is by far my favorite dressing of all time. The one time my online order wasn’t ready on time, they made it right immediately.
However, I’m not sure I’d recommend the prime rib dinner. In their defense we did get it to go. My husband and I got the prime rib dinner on Friday 6/17. We both ordered it medium rare, both were well done. The texture was not right for prime rib. It was also on the dryer side, probably with the way it was cooked. It was almost the texture as of it had been cooked earlier in the day and it had sat in one of those catering things that keeps food warm. The mashed potato’s that came with it had great flavor and were seasoned well. The Au ju that came with the prime rib was different. It had an Italian seasoning taste to it. My husband liked the sauce, I wasn’t a fan. Lastly, I’ll talk about the asparagus (since we all know the salad is the bomb). The asparagus was cooked well; however, it was quite bland. I ended up dipping them in the sauce. I do think it might be worth it to try in restaurant to see if there is a difference in quality.
I would recommend this restaurant overall...
Read moreI would have liked to try the place, everything looked really good. We were greeted at the door by a very nice waitress who told us to order up front and let them know we’re eating outside. We waited up front at the order here sign. They looked really busy, but we weren’t in a rush and didn’t mind waiting. Eventually the girl behind the counter asked if we had a pick up. We told her we wanted to order and sit outside. She and another girl behind the counter looked at us and said it’s table service. Said it really flat. They seemed very defensive. No smiling, stressed, just mad that we were even there. The vibe was way off man. We let them know their waitress told us to come up front. They all were then looking at us confused and upset. One of them asked us who told us that. I told them the waitress out at the tables. They wanted to make sure we pointed out who it was. When the one lady saw who I pointed out, she rolled her eyes and shrugged. Another lady annoyingly told us to sit outside and she’d be out. We were just really confused and felt like an annoyance. We’d never been there before and it wasn’t it. We just said okay and then left. Couldn’t ride with those vibes man. Disappointed. Could have at least been nice and explained. Anyways, wishing everyone...
