Whitt's Barbecue — Restaurant in Dickson

Ive been in other Whitt's Barbque, and this place is sad and run down looking like there hasn't been any improvements done since the mid 80's! We were the only customers there, and the guy behind the counter couldn't even remember that we had ordered drinks with the sandwiches! He was very young and friendly, bless his heart, and thats the only reason I gave them 2 stars verse 1. The older woman who kept fussing at a younger girl, (I'm guessing she is both mom and manager), was acting more like we were at her house verses a place of business. We tried to be as polite as possible, considering that we could have just as easily turned around and walked out after our initial scope of things. But we chose to stay, which we both agreed, made us partly to blame for such an over stimulating experience. And just when we couldn't add more to the story without help, some of Dickson's finest showed up which topped off our already awkward visit. We didn't realize that there still existed groups of individuals that think it's ok to get pregnant at 14. I guess mom didn't find it necessary to teach her daughter morals or even safe sex! This place is like stepping back in time, literally I don’t know when the last time they updated their menu, but that is a huge benefit to customer because it looks like it’s been a long time and look like they are not from the modern day, This probably has the best prices of any barbecue place in greater Nashville area, or Dickson… I cannot believe that I have missed this place for so many years. I don’t know the people that run it, but you can tell they are like family to each other… The place is not modern or any spectacular design, but it has a very much reminds me like how when I grew up in Texas and I would go get barbecue… This is the type of place that I remember, so it has a lot of nostalgia in the simplicity of it so instead of spending a lot of money for renovations, they just passed those savings off to you with good food for good prices… I think the prices are cheaper than McDonald’s, so whatever you do just go over there if you have a choice,the food was all excellent, so no complaints there, I will definitely make this as a regular or weekly stop, even better as they have a drive-through so you can just swing in and grab something and be...

I’ve eaten food from whitts just last week and it was awesome the slab of ribs was flipping mouth watering and the 2 loaded baked potatoes were to die for but part of our order which was paid for was missing. I called they apologized and said next time I come through I can pick up missing food. Well today we were back in town so we decided to get food from Whitts again because of the first positive experience. This time we got one loaded baked potato and a family pack. Upon opening the loaded baked potato to heat up I noticed something odd. I pulled at it and as it was coming out of the potato I’d say in all about 4 plus inches of artery with other none appetizing parts was inside the pulled pork in the potato. Totally grossed me out. I’ll never eat anything pulled pork from there again. I work a restaurant type setting for 15 years and never did we allow such a thing to remain in the food we served to our customers. I’ve taken photos and have the artery in the freezer for my next trip to Dickson Tn I’ll be sure to take it with because for the price I paid to eat there should never be disgusting things left behind and served to people.
