WORST “””“buffet””””/restaurant experience of me and my family’s life. $17 for literally food being kept warm by little flames you’d find at a Christmas family dinner, in tins, that are empty every 5 minutes. Once you pay a ridiculous price for 3 meat options, when promised 5 or more, you wait in line for food because it’s stuffed in a tiny corner of this used-to-be house. Waited in line 2 times, but I couldn’t wait any more times, even though I was still hungry because waiting in line once meant standing there for 5 minutes just to get to the first food in this corner. While in line, I watched as a very old lady with a cane, trying to get a cup cake they probably got at a 7-11, and every time she’d get it, someone would bump into her and she’d drop it on the floor because there’s literally no room to even walk. The food quality was so ridiculously poor, the only thing that even looked decent was the shredded pork... at least I think it was shredded pork, since there was no labels on any of the food so it could’ve been BBQ horse for all I know. Now probably the worst part of this whole thing is that there literally is no where to sit! So after I pay $17 for food that I don’t even want to eat at this point, I have to stand and eat my food in the dead center of the room, where I hear “excuse me” every 30 or less seconds; because I said before, there’s no room to even walk in that dump. So if you have food that you need to cut, forget about it because you’re allowed to only eat with one hand. Sorry. In the off chance you find a seat by the time you’re half way done, managing to eat, you probably have to share it with another family and one of your family members will have to stand still next to the table, while a horrible live “singer” blasts in your ears so you can’t even hear someone next to you, let alone even hear yourself think. God bless the guy for trying, and maybe if he was somewhere else singing, or even just quieter, it’d be enjoyable, but I’m pretty convinced they have him playing loud so that no one else can hear each other’s complaints and start asking for their money back. Now, what do you have with a meal usually free? A drink. Yeah, you have to pay extra for a soda usually when you’re at a buffet, but you can at least have water right? Well nope, not here. You can either have watered down, iced tea out of a jug you find at the grocery store, or lemonade out of a jug that they pour into a self-serve catering spout kids use to sell lemonade in their front yard, and toss some, day-old lemon, limes, and some kind of grass-like stuff in to make you think it’s homemade. It might not even be lemonade for all I know because again, there’s no labels on anything. I wish I was exaggerating how horrible this place is. Please save your...
Read moreHey so I am a kayak fisherman who works the Susky a lot in this area. Always looking for something good beyond the usual gas stop fare. I've seen over the last couple years the smoking cookers and the pig suited person waving me in.
I cook/smoke my own Q and am quite proud of my work.
I usually don't buy Q out as I know I could be disappointed. Same thing as true Italains who make their own pasta and regional dishes going to an American "Italian" restaurant.
That said I did not have brisket, and it was not on the menu. The baby backs were there so tried them. Nice pink smoke ring. I know that this does not add flavor. It's nice to see though because that typically means that the meat was cooked with wood or smoked until it reached about 140 degrees.
So a deep red ring on the ribs. The "pull" from the bone was very nice. No one who loves Q wants "falling off the bone" that's too wet and suggest a crutch was used. So good pull/mouth feel too them. Not served with sauce on them which I hate. I prefer dry ribs with sauce on the side so I can taste the rub and the cook.
The ribs had a glaze on them, sauces were on the side. Even had a bottle of the broken peppers in vinegar (probably intended for the bean side) which also tell you about the cook.
The ribs were VERY good, the beans were VERY good, beans just a little too sweet but the sweetness was from maple syrup not the typical fare so OK to me. The slaw was just a little wet but excellent.
Other stuff on the menu pulled pork, wings, chicken, etc - will try them next time.
Place was packed, it was a Sunday. The help - really, who cares, they take your order and money. Were just fine IMHO. The digs much cleaner than usual joint. Restrooms were very clean.
Great corner joint and good find that I will visit again.
So right now at the time of my review - the help, the place, the service, the restrooms, the seating and even the low key ambiance with SPORTS on TV, puzzles for the kids. Tables outside all very good in an area that has slim pickings. If you like Q check this place out, if not go up the street for...
Read moreCame into the place very optimistic because I love bbq. Showed up at 7:30 p.m. a half hour before they close and I normally would never do that but not many bbq places around and I couldn't make it there earlier. Walked in the place... smelled good and there were 3 different groups of people eating .... one group which had clearly just got served. Was going to order a sampler for myself and a sandwich for.my wife and whatever we didnt eat we were going to take home for the next day. A half hour before they close and we were told we couldn't sit down because the dining room was closed with 3 groups of people still clearly eating. But we were told we could get it to go and reheat at home or basically eat outside. WITH PEOPLE STILL INSIDE EATING!.....I'm sorry I know u stop serving at 8 but that's when the dining room should stop being available as well that's unprofessional and down right disrespectful to tell someone they cant eat in while 3 diff groups are sitting there eating. We ended up getting 2 mediocre pork bbq sandwiches to go and eating in the car and still got done before anyone came out of the place....the staff was friendly don't get me wrong but there only takeout after 7:30 policy I strongly disagree with. You should not have to ask for accommodations you can either sit down and eat until you close or not and if you want to close earlier ....close earlier. A paying customer is not going to want to ask if they can sit down after being told its only take out after 7:30 while groups of people are...
