Wasn’t planning on finding one of the best Mexican meals I’ve had in a long time—especially not while scouting properties for the day—but La Cocina blew me away. This place is a vibe from the second you walk in. It’s conveniently posted right on the corner across from Starbucks, super central in Dixon. As soon as you open the door, you’re greeted with that loud, warm welcome that honestly reminded me of a high-energy Japanese restaurant. You just feel seen and appreciated as a customer right away. The decor? Full-on Mexican flavor—beautiful, colorful, and authentic. There’s hot sauce lined up on the walls like trophies, and every detail from the chairs to the tile feels like you’ve stepped into a family-run spot in Jalisco. The food? Stupid good. Fresh, flavorful, and undeniably authentic. I had the carnitas (do it—you won’t regret it), and the flavors were on point. Tortillas tasted handmade, salsa had the right kick, and everything just felt like real home-cooked Mexican food. Clearly, I’m not the only one who thinks so—place was full of happy locals, and that tells you everything. I’m out here with my team from Twin Home Buyer and Equity Track, looking at a few properties today, and randomly stumbled on this place. Now I’m already planning to stop here again on my next trip through Dixon. If you’re driving through or anywhere nearby, La Cocina is worth the detour. Legit.

I came here on sunday November 25th at around 1pm. The restaurant was slightly busy when we arrived, but we were seated quickly by the friendly host, who took our drinks and brought one of them quickly. The other drink for some reason took more than 30 minutes to come despite the waiter telling us it was on it's way several times. I could tell the waiter was overworked, he was running all over the place stressed. The food took over an hour to come, without any kind of apology or explanation, and despite the crowd completely thinning out. My wife wanted to get up and just leave several times but we were too hungry to start at a new place. I ordered a burrito and she got the tostadas. It definitely was not worth the wait, it was an average meal but not bad either. I am sure I would have been much happier with the food if we hadn't waited so long.

We love going here to eat, as the service is so friendly and atmosphere reminds us of Mexico. But on the delivery🫣 The chips were very cooked. To dark for me. I always order a quasidilla at Mexican restaurants, as I don't like hot spices and love cheese. Well, sadly, this time ordered for delivery and 😔. For the price, only 2 tortillas used, and little cheese sadly. You can see in photo, how it was not close to edges, and super thin. I am so sad to give this review, but I want to share for other c lovers out there. My husband loved his Tortilla salad though 😃. For the price in future, not ordering the quasidilla 😪

I'm a skeptical and critical person when it comes to food and restaurants as I was in the business for many years. First impression, friendly staff. No pressure. CLEAN GOOD SMELLING RESTROOMS...And right off the freeway. Family owned. Decor was amazing being told it was all made and created by family. Way to go! Food was awesome. Service time was great. Fresh tasting properly prepared food. Thanks to Leti, Bridgett, and Alex great team customer service and hospitality. It got super busy after we arrived...and speed of service continued strong. Take out orders being picked up with minimal wait. The food was so good I ordered a to go chimichanga for my son. We had ordered super burrito too and a kids meal. We had campechango and shredded chicken for meat. My youngest had carnitas. Everything was very good. Thank you. We will drive the distance to come back. From Family in northern...

We stopped here randomly, and we're so glad that we did! The smell when we first walked in was pretty savory, so we had high hopes. The decor and furniture is all made by Marco Salcedo, who is also the awesome cook. It's all made from recycled materials and carved and painted by hand. There was quite a mix of people - hipsters, latinos, and working men. The chips were very fresh, and the salsa was soooo good. Two of my kids and I usually can't eat spicy salsa, but this was milder, very flavorful, and made fresh daily. The food portions are good-sized, fresh, and delicious.I had a sope, which can be dicey. Some people overcook them, which makes them hard to cut. The ones that we had were firm, yet still delicate enough to slice with a fork. The owners are super-friendly, lovely people. I almost wish that we lived closer- this would definitely become our go-to...
