I was led to a kiosk to order. I ordered and paid using the kiosk. They go to the back, and they return to tell me they don’t have what I ordered. I asked what other pastries do they have? They tell me they don’t speak English, and they turn their back. I’m shocked, but I’m about to be late for work if I don’t leave soon. In my limited Spanish, I ask what other pastries do they have because I need to go to work. They had me select something from their case. They went to the back and returned with a nice handled bag. I thank them and leave. When I opened the bag later, it was not what they had offered nor what I had selected… instead it was 3 pieces of bread. Can’t recommend for limited selection that is not reflected in the ordering kiosk, initial refusal to help me because I was speaking English at first, very odd switcheroo resolution of offering me a display case item then giving me something else and inability to quickly get something before work when they have no...
Read moreCame to try the famous Venezuelan Chicha. It's a rice drink with cinnamon that tastes a lot like rice pudding. Mine was served with too much ice; it was rather bland but maybe because it was difficult to really taste it without being so watered down. Also all the ice made for very little of the drink in the small cup, so I felt a bit ripped off--make sure to ask for Light or No Ice otherwise there will too little Chicha served.
Tasted the pan dulce (sweetbread) which is also famous and it tastes like a dinner roll with sugar on the top. Not the most exciting. There a little to none GF options to eat except for the Tarta de Santiago tart which is made of almond meal. Came on a quiet weekday lunchtime and there were not a lot of people. For drink and bread (1.50) paid just under $8. A bit much for it being mostly ice. Not sure I will drive all the way over...
Read moreOur next family food adventure take us +58 Gourmet located in Doral Commons, with more than two years open to the public and with a category of 4.3 and 293 comments. Looking for a new unforgettable experience for the palate, we found this small place with a very pink and French-style decoration, the customer service was fast and friendly, they explain everything on the menu and the options according to what the costumer likes. The order arrived quickly, the sweets were delicious and fresh, not like some places that taste fried because they are from the day before, but at +58 Gourmet they make everything daily and the sandwich paninis are exquisite. Our stay was the best. Highly recommended if you are visiting Doral and want to share a good coffee and something to eat with family...
