Updated review:
Weâve been there multiple times for lunch and a few times for dinner. We like the ambience, the decoration, and the food. The customer service really depends on who gets to serve you when you visit. Isaura and Ivonne are the best. Also, the guy that brings the food to the table is very professional.
Now we can recommend it to friends and family!
Original review: This restaurant is nicely decorated and looks very cute. We didnât know they take reservations, so we walked in and they gave us a table fairly quickly which was nice. The music was a little too loud for lunch so itâs hard to enjoy a meal and have a conversation.
The food was delicious. We ordered Posta sudada, Cazuela de frijoles, palitos de pollo a la brasa, and punta de anca. Mi favorite was the plĂĄtano maduro side which tasted amazingly. Unfortunately, they brought my steak medium rare when I asked for it to be well-done. And the chicken fingers were supposed to be grilled instead of crumbed. The waitress noticed the mistake with the chicken finger and asked if we wanted to get them grilled, but we didnât want to wait for it, so we kept them fried.
The service was terrible. We were asked twice if someone was helping us and yet no one came over to take our order. After a while, we had to ask one of the waiters passing if he could take our order. We also had to ask for water, which is one of the first things you get at a restaurant. I mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday and ordered a dessert that never came to our table. So after waiting for a while, I had someone call our waitress to cancel the dessert and get the check.
The staff has headsets to communicate, but they donât look coordinated yet.
So I canât recommend the place to family, friends or coworkers because I would be embarrassed if they had to experience the bad service even if the...
Read moreThe food overall was good. However, I sadly have to give this spot only one star (if I can put 0 stars I would honestly) due to the way the place runs. The wait staff can use some training to work on their way of serving their customers, not that they were rude but clearly they didnât seem to know basic fundamentals of serving such as refilling glasses of water as you pass by each table. When my wife, mother-in-law and I were seated, the waitress who attended us did not welcome us properly, other than just asking how she can help us as if sheâs working as a customer service rep. I wanted to order the bandeja paisa without the bloody sausage so I asked if I can replace it with something else and the waitress said there were not able to do it so I had to pay $26 for that dish with the sausage removed without any substitution, not to mention that the plate and the portion was not as big as what the dish costed. The service didnât do much for us and on top of that, our waitress was gone for quite a while, the other staff were on their phones, and eating in front of the other customers. The only time our waitress asked if we were doing alright was when the supervisor asked her to. If you like colombian cuisine and want a good service and a generous portion for what youâre paying for, go to the Matriarca, itâs just a few...

This restaurant is located in a central area so people from the East and West can visit it with no problems. The plaza where this restaurant is located has a parking lot, but the actual parking spots are small so youâll see vehicles taking two spots.
If youâre in a hurry, next to the entrance, there is a window that offers coffee and some products.
The entrance is ok, there was no wait and the friendly hostess immediately guided us to a table. I also like that there is good space between tables.
The interior has a nice area for live music, with basic decoration and like other restaurants, tables are arranged for big or small parties.
The menu is very similar if not same as other restaurants, please donât ask for Mazamorra because the waitress doesnât know that is listed in the menu and his comment is that management is still working on the Menu. We were offered to have Bandeja Paisa or Frijolada when I asked what os the difference the answer was, âoh sorry we donât sell frijolada, we sell cazuelaâ that is explained and listed in the menu. Not a big deal.
The prices are high compared to other Colombian restaurants, and the flavors are very good, but they donât have anything that makes them unique, special or different than other restaurants...
