Caribe Cafe Restaurant — Restaurant in Doral

It’s hard to believe that I’d ever write a review like this for Caribe Restaurant. I’ve been a longtime customer for many years and I’ve gone to most of their restaurants. At this restaurant, I used to go at least twice a month when I lived in the area.

What’s upsetting is I brought my cousin to have a good dinner at a place, I used to go to. The place was empty and there were only two tables. Yes, they did have a lot of takeout order orders. The young lady seated us fast got us some water and bread disappeared came back about 10 minutes later to take our order which we already knew we wanted. We ordered a daily special, which normally is fast service We were hungry and we wanted to eat fast. 45 minutes later still no food, no service. No waitress, and as I said, there were only three tables in the entire restaurant. The owner and manager were standing in the middle talking to a friend and not even paying attention that the tables were not being attended to.

This is the first time I’ve ever had some terrible service at this restaurant and I’ll be the last because I’m not going back.

My cousin and I looked at each other and said we’re out of here. We got up and left. That was about 45 minutes.

When we were walking out, we told another waitress to just cancel the order and keep it. It’s taking too long. Even she knew the order and she kept saying it was coming out. It’s coming out. We just said when and we walked out.

The owner-manager had no clue of what was going on with his restaurant. He was more interested in talking to his friend and in taking care of all the takeout orders that were there instead of the people in the restaurant. I’m not sure but do people that are sitting in his restaurant take priority since they are there?

I don’t know if to blame the kitchen. But blame the owner for standing there talking to a friend instead of paying attention to his restaurant.

We got in the car drove to 107th and Coral Way sat down and the Latin American 2, were seated, ordered our meal, ate our meal, paid for our meal, and walked out the door in less time than it took for us to order and just wait to us to be ignored. By the way, the Latin American 2 was packed. Almost every single table had people in it and yet we got faster service, better service, faster food delivery, and or charged faster.

Needless to say about this restaurant I’m not going to be returning. But it’s just extremely sad that a restaurant that I used to go to daily and even at least 2 to 3 times a month for dinner would have gotten so bad in their service and organization in their kitchen. But I think the most of all was a manager/owner who had no clue about his restaurant and didn’t even care...

Food is delicious and always so fresh and the portions are so generous, I have to take a box full home. No complaints here. Yeah, the booths and tables are a little dated as is the look of the place, but I'm coming here for the food. The servers are kind people and the prices are pretty amazing. 2 plates could serve 4. Definitely recommend. I usually have the Carne Asada which is always cooked just as I like it, medium rare to medium, but I switched over to the grilled chicken today. I must say I was NOT disappointed by that choice. The chicken was succulent, soft and not dry at all like you find in other places of "higher quality". Last, this is the only place that I've ever been served fries, taken them home, refrigerated and reheated them, and they were still as delicious as they were fresh, they lose their crunch factor, however, the return is a soft and steamy fry and I think I'll head back right...

I am sure that this new Caribe on Coral Way SW 97 Ave, has to be a franchise...it can NOT be the same owners of: 2660 SW 137 AVE.... I have always been super satisfied with food, waitress, and everyone at Caribe 137 Ave...excellent place to dine, they treat you like family too. But my experience with the new Caribe at Coral Way and 97 Ave was terrible ...I am referring about food I ordered for a delivery service from them. The delivery was fast, but THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE The worse $40 dollars wasted on Food ever! The Crema de Malanga was yellow instead of white plus the taste was horrible. The Boliche Asado seemed it was cooked two days ago, hard and dry...I am very disgusted at the quality of his place. I have rdered delivery from the other one, and please nothing like this.
