5 STARS for: ~ Customer Service: Melissa, Haley, Carla and Matt ~ Food & Beer ~ Ambiance & Music
I originally tried making reservations for a party of 14 over the phone on Tuesday, April 9th, 2019 for the upcoming Saturday (4/13/19) to celebrate my birthday somewhere new with live music, but was told to email Monica, the event and marketing manager, for large groups. So, I did. She replied immediately with a set menu, drinks and a private room. I explained to her that is not what I was looking for. She replied the next day and was quick to turn us away with "at this time Copper Blues is no longer accepting reservations on Friday and Saturday evenings anymore. We hope that you still join us this weekend." What!? Hmmmm, ok. I don't think it's wise for Monica to turn business away. I could have very well made reservations at Cooper's Hawk, but decided to stick to my guns and hoped for the best at Copper Blues.
My sister, my father and step-mother got there before me and were able to score a table for 14 of us, but outside, which was very undesirable as it was muggy and hotter than usual. My wifey explained our situation to Melissa, the newly hired hostess and she was quick to accommodate our needs without any hesitation.
We then asked the manager, Matt, who was very down to earth and made us feel welcomed, how can we score a table for big groups in the future just like the rest of the folks in there. He gave us his business card to contact him directly if an event should arise. Sweet!
Haley was mainly our server, but Carla would pop in every now and then to make sure we were all good. Now that's excellent team work and not to mention, what ultimately gives patrons outstanding customer service and keeps us coming back for more. They were very attentive and did an excellent job at attending to our party of 14.

Three bands played that Saturday. We had the pleasure of enjoying the sounds of Jean Andres and his bongo player, at 5pm. They played an array of acoustic music from the Beetles to 3 Doors Down. Very cool band, good vibes and everyone seemed to be enjoying the music.

Read moreThis place sucks so bad lol. Some friends and I stopped at their bar after a show at the improv. The bar wasn’t super busy but the curly blond bartender keep walking right by my friend and I and wouldn’t acknowledge us. It was so egregious that some strangers next to us walked to the ice well where the bartender and bar back (?) was and pointed to us saying we were waiting to order. These idiots looked at us, waved, and continued their conversation. I had to wave them down for like the fourth time before we could order. Which a gentleman who I think was the bar back took, not the bartender. But of course, when it was finally time to collect payment the bartender is suddenly on us to start or tab or close out. Which is Standard procedure but I don’t appreciate being hassled to pay after being blatantly ignored several times. I told her to give me a moment and keep ignoring me as she was when I was trying to order so I can have a moment to talk to my friends to see if we were gonna close out or start a tab. She immediately got indignant and defensive asking why I had a problem with her. I told her I hadn’t spoken to her long enough to develop a problem with her, since she barely came around to my friends and I. She got a manager, who at first came at me aggressively saying I was being rude to his bartender. I calmly explained that I wasn’t being rude, and that I’ve been a bartender for over ten years. (Used to bartend at the Improv back when it was at coconut grove, Iykyk) I can tell when a bartender is weeded and when they’re outright ignoring a customer, which is what she was doing. She even tried to jump in the convo that the manager and I was having a couple of times. Not only is she pretty useless and wrongfully defensive, she’s pretty childish as well. The manager smoothed things over well, offering to buy our drinks but telling us we needed to leave the bar area and move to a table. We opted to leave instead. We knew Copper Blues isn’t our type of vibe(read: not friendly to black people) but I’m extra put off of by how weak the bar is. Kudos to the manager, I didn’t get his name, for at least hearing me out instead of letting his lazy neglectful bartender paint a...
Read moreI used to love coming here and would come very often, but after my experience last night, I will NEVER return here again. Security took my ID at the door and claimed that it was a “fake” ID. I know I have a baby face but I have never had my ID taken or questioned because it is as real as it gets from the DMV. I thought it was a joke at first and when I realized he was serious and was not going to give it back I asked to speak to the manager. The manager then pretends to take the ID to the back of the restaurant to “scan” it and comes back and says again that it’s not real and she will not return it. At this point I am livid because all I want to do is go home but hello I cannot drive anywhere without my ID!!!!! I ask if I can show proof of my birth certificate or any identification so I can at least have it back. Her and the security refuse to listen or give me any proof that it’s fake. Finally I had to get the cops involved which I really did not want to do. When the cops arrived to the scene, they called in my ID and proved it was real and returned it to me. He explained that restaurants have no way of knowing when an ID is real and they most likely judged my young looking appearance. He also said what they should have done is called in a report which they did not do. I would not be standing there making a fuss if my ID was fake lol...who is stupid enough to stay and take the risk of being accused of fraud?!!! The security guard also took a coin and scratched the back of my ID so now i have to go to the DMV with my case number the cop gave me to get issued a new one. I even asked for names and all I got is that the security gaurds name is possibly “junior”. They would not give me any real explanation and wasted my time. WORST experience ever if I could give no...
