Walked into the room at 11:00pm after a long flight, trying to find the lights. There were two switches one which didn’t work at all and the other which had a delay before the lights came on. The smell of the room (industrial disinfectant?) hit me in the face and didn’t lessen during my three-night stay. The bathroom door squeaked so loudly I was hesitant to close it but since I was traveling alone, I made do as best as I could so as not to disturb the neighbors in the surrounding rooms. The room had recently been updated but the bathroom had not, and the rest of the hotel showed its age. Each time I returned to my room, the keycard to the door would not work. The second time this happened they sent a maintenance man up who had no Holiday Inn identifying logos on his shirt and did not speak English and although I didn’t necessarily feel threatened, I made sure to maintain awareness since I was a single woman traveling alone. He messed with the door which I didn’t understand because it was obvious whatever he was doing would not fix the issue. The third time the keycard wouldn’t work was the only time the front desk personnel apologized for the inconvenience and let me know there were plans within the next month to replace the card readers. I called a week before my trip to ask if they could hold my luggage after checking out because my flight home was not until that night. They told me yes, they could store it for me. What they didn’t tell me was that it was first come first served because they have minimal space for this purpose and when I went to check out, they turned me down. I said there is room for you to shimmy my small bag in amongst the rest and the front desk gal said I have just turned away this group of four people so I cannot now turn around and help you. I have to comment on the thinness of the walls. Sleep was almost nonexistent at this property because at night you could imagine there were no walls at all, that is how loud the cars were driving by on the street below. I work for a nearby company and was in town for a work trip hence the reason I stayed at this property. I will NOT be a repeat customer for future trips. I am quite disappointed in my stay at Holiday Inn...
Read moreI wish I could give the location 10 stars. We picked this hotel for our NYE cruise. It may not be the closest IHG hotel to the port but we were part of a group of 16 and had children - retired folks and opted for walkability. The neighborhood around this hotel is just amazing with a grocery store, coffee shop, local park, CVS, and various restaurants and shops nearby.
We flew down two days before the cruise and stayed in room 415 that time. We arrived before the rest of our group so we spent a lot of time poolside and in the lobby reading and then walking the neighborhood. We arranged a shuttle to the port through the front desk staff which contracts with Worry Free Transportation. Since there were 16 of us, we had to take several shuttles at different times but you could also Uber or take a cab.
We could not get a decent direct return flight so we stayed one night after the cruise in room 413. This time we took the hotel shuttle to the airport but our flight was cancelled due to a snowstorm in the Midwest. Luckily they had rooms available so all 16 of us came back for two more nights. This time my husband and I stayed in room 201. We didn't request to have adjacent rooms but all three times, all of our rooms were fairly close to each other. I used the gym a few times and although small, it got the job done. I also walked the neighborhood daily to get my steps in. I wasn't sure if the cruise ship laundry room took quarters or our room keys so I had packed plenty of quarters for laundry. The laundry room at he hotel wasn't ever busy and I can't remember how much it cost me offhand, but the price was in line with any laundromat.
I have to give a shout out to Kenny, Emily, and Alex at the front desk. As I mentioned, there were 16 of us and we ended up having to stay two additional nights due to the snowstorm. They made the chaotic scenario as easy as possible and answered all of our questions. They were constantly busy and even in tense situations (from others guests, not us) they remained calm and polite. Thank you for a great stay. We will be back...
Read moreHow truly disappointing was the stay at this establishment. The room was filthy. There was random hair all over; on the floor, in the shower, and around the kitchen area. Multiple pillowcases were dirty. The shower door did not remain closed while I was trying to shower with my toddler. The toilet did not flush properly. If I would have been able to check out that day I would have. Sadly, I was in town visiting my father who is battling cancer and didn’t have a lot of time. I did not want to waste it trying to find a new hotel for only a couple of nights. When I reached out to management they came up and removed the blocked paper from the toilet and offered me a credit. Unfortunately, I was unable to speak with the manager, Daniel Orellanos, who had offered me the credit before my check out. When I went to check out I was informed that there was no credit posted to my account and I would have to speak with Daniel again. Since he seemed helpful at the moment I was confident that the credit would be reflected on my account after I checked out; I was very sadly mistaken. I emailed the manager twice and received no response. I then called and once I spoke to Daniel again he informed me that I would not receive any credit. He stated that when he removed the paper from the toilet that it was fixed even though you still had to hold the lever down to completely flush and no paper was allowed to be put inside. He then stated that because I refused cleaning service the next day because my 18 month old daughter was sleeping - that it was in fact my fault for not wanting to resolve the issue. He also informed me that 3 grown adults went into the shower together and turned it on to test if the door stayed closed. He said it was in fact staying closed which I know is a complete lie. If you don’t care about cleanliness or customer service then go ahead and book your stay at the Holiday Inn of Doral. I will be reaching out to the upper management of DHM Hotels and to IHG Hotels and Resort. Additionally, I will be reporting a formal complaint with the Better...
