Today would have been my second time dining here. Following my grandmother's burial, we chose this restaurant for a family dinner (8 guests). My sister called the restaurant and spoke with Melissa, who booked us standard seating inside and collected credit card information as it is a $25pp fee if you no show. We arrived promptly at 7:20p for our 7:30p reservation and the hostess stated we were booked outside, not inside. We knew what we booked and did not get a chance to pull up the confirmation, but she insisted we booked incorrectly. She stated they sat other guests inside, that had booked earlier than us, and no longer had space to seat us inside. This to me was crazy, because you should not have reservations available beyond your means - just because others arrived first does not mean our reservation is now invalid. My mother was upset and asked for the manager, who was a blonde woman and gave her the same response - there is no space inside and they can only seat us outside. This was upsetting because we knew what we booked and were having to pay the consequence of their mistake without any kind of compensation. After much back and forth, we walked off but this simply did not sit right with me given the circumstances of the day. I circled back and spoke one on one with the manager and let her know this was our post-burial plan, to explain why this entire fiasco was so upsetting to my mother. She maintained her poor attitude and backtracked on everything she had said. She stated that Melissa is a new hostess and keeps overbooking the inside, so there was never going to be a table for us in the first place. She also stated that because my mother was upset and demanding a table inside, that she would have moved tables around and accommodated us, but she did not appreciate her attitude, so she refused to help us out (this sounded like an empty promise that she made knowing what she knew now about the death in the family considering both she and the hostess said the inside was completely full). As someone with years of experience in the customer service field, especially in positions just like her, I reminded her that excellent customer service requires empathy. Listen to your customers and find a solution where everyone can be happy. My mother was upset with good reason considering our reservation was not honored and we were met with claims we were lying or mistaken. I urge the owners of this restaurant to train your managers to 1. Practice integrity - if you make a mistake, which Melissa the brand new hostess did, own up to it and offer an alternative (such as outdoor seating, but with a complimentary appetizer for the trouble for example), rather than gaslight your customers (honestly, had they been honest, the entire conversation would've gone very, very different) and 2. Practice empathy. My mother was upset, yes, but that did not merit the blonde manager's nasty attitude in return. Fighting fire with fire leads you to lose business and stains your reputation as a hospitable restaurant. We won't be returning, and if you choose to visit this restaurant, be wary that your reservation may still...

Read moreWere to start. We made reservations 3 days prior for my husbands birthday, had it confirmed day prior and then day of had a call from restaurant again confirming party of 5 for 6pm. I called to follow up for a third time to assure everything was good prior to our departure from home. Arrived 15 minutes early, the hostess looked as if she was lost in her own world/deer in the head lights. Looked on her list and said and I quote "yes so and so, party of 5 for 6pm." Proceeds to walk us in and is turned around - confused even. Starts to walk us to a table of 2 that is converted to 4, in such a manner the chairs don't event fit and is now scrambling to add an additional 5th chair. At this point I start to boil up just a bit and ask - what are you doing. She explains that the restaurant is booked with reservations and that is the best they can do for us. I about lost it. I said I know this because I TOO HAVE HAD RESERVATIONS FOR THE LAST THREE DAYS AND HAVE CONFIRMED THEM AS WELL. She confirmed that she knows that we did, but they made a MISTAKE. I in turn said, there is no way that you are going to place 5 adults in a table made for TWO. The restaurant is EMPTY with the exception of two -- yes TWO tables that have customers. There is plenty of sitting including 4 empty booth that can accommodate us. I asked for manager that was an idiot to be kind -- my grown daughters and husband about lost their mind. The restaurant is destroying what was going to be a wonderful night for my husbands birthday with ridiculous trivial stupidity. As we were walking out I am on the phone with another restaurant and another outdoor manager overheard and jumped in immediately upset and said we have several OPEN booths that can accommodate them -- lets do so. The the rest of the night pretty much was dictated by the actions taken by this simple minded hostess (redheaded) and the first manager who took no action or control over the situation. Our waitress was okay - no apologies for the way we were treated - no special treatment for my husband for the inconvenience. NOTHING!!!! The atmosphere was all HYPE. We had a better time outside at the ice cream parlor with the outside music then inside the restaurant. Not to boost -- but I am an influencer of 20K followers, and believe when I tell you I really wanted to go ham on them - but I decided it was not worth my time. Truly sad that customer service is such a low KEY point for this restaurant. Never again. Thanks for ruining my husbands...
