La Uchireña — Restaurant in Doral

Came here solely to try their empanadas based off of others recommendations and La Uchirena did not disappoint! Came with my boyfriend on a weekday during lunch time and the place was pretty packed. From what I see they offer various Venezuelan dishes that are pre-prepared but I think you can also get food cooked to order but not sure.

First off, their empanadas are massive and truly are the perfect pocket meal to eat on the go. Their size were definitely not like any other place I had been to which was great since all their empanadas were still normal priced! My boyfriend and I shared the cheese, pabellon, chicken, and carne mechada. All of them were delicious but the best definitely was the pabellon that comes with carne mechada (shredded Venezuelan beef), beens, and fried plantains. Its an all in one meal. The salsas they had out were spicy and a perfect pairing.

Would love to come back to try their other foods since these were prepared so well and they seem to have a pretty good...

I ordered empanadas for my whole family! One of mine was lightly burn by the edge, so I requested before even touch my food to have one to replace just that one, so I start eating one given time to get the other one. My entire family finish eating, including my daughter who is only 1 year an it takes more time for her to eat. I decided after 30 minutes waiting to go inside and request a refund, just to know that the employee who supposed to cook my empanada, was just finishing another type of empanada. And not even started mine! And he knew I requested more than 30 min before, with an bad actittude and and a really “I DONT CARE” Face, he look at me like saying are you telling me anything ? I stop right there! Because is almost new year eve. But I’m definitely not going back to this place and letting nobody who I know to try it again.

On Saturday I called and order through the phone cheese, chicken and meat empanadas. When I arrived at the place to pay I realized they didn’t take the cheese empanadas order, which didn’t bother me because misunderstood can happen. Unfortunately, the ladies that were in the place were really rude and didn’t even try to apologize or make up for the mistake claiming that I didn’t place the cheese empanadas order in the first place. I asked one of them if she had some ready for me to take and she told me that “the empanadas are already compromised to other clients”, not even caring that I was telling her that I did order them through the phone.
