Not sure how to feel! Ended with a hair in my drink and me feeling ripped off with the crab boil! We went Friday during happy hour time and the place was not crowded. We were seated immediately we ordere hurricane drinks, calamari, Cajun wings, cajun shrimp, fried oysters, and beignets for apps. The drinks and food came out fast and everything taste amazing enough to come back! The hurricane drinks had more of a Mai Tai taste to it but still taste great. The Calamari and fried oysters were both lightly battered, great texture, and flavor. The cajun wings were crispy with mildly spicy seasoning as the coating but that flavor did not penatrate to the inside meat, however they were still pretty good! The cajun shrimps were jumbo and delicious we were was not dissapointed at this point. Especially with the beignets which although not exactly authentic came very close to the real deal! Then I ordered a sidepiece drink and the crab boil with 1lb dungeness crab, 1/2 pound of headless shrimp, sausage and potatoes. This is when things got dissapointing! The sidepiece drink tasted amazing was instantly my favorite drink there. However halfway through the drink i noticed a hair sticking out of my straw. I pulled it out and it had a clump of sugar from the heavily sugared rim at the end of it. The waiter was already coming so I showed hi. He instantly got the manager and they were at the table in a flash! The manager apologized asked if I wanted another drink which of course I didn't want to drink anything after that so he comped just the drink. I was disappointed that it all happened so fast I didn't get to take a picture to reference because it was the last thing on my mind and I was thrown off guard. Now, during that fiasco my crab boil came out and after the manager and waiter left I noticed it came with only 1 crab cluster. Being a seafood lover, eating at other crab spots, and cooking and buying crab myself I knew this 1 cluster was not 1 pound even for a dungeness crab. So I asked the waiter this can't be the 1lb crab I was paying $30 for. He said because it was dungeness and they are heavier it was a lb. However while talking to the waiter my friend broke a leg off so I was stuck with the plate and left it at that. I was also annoyed I didn't get to get a picture to reference it either. These boils are pricey but for almost $50 I was disappointed and felt cheated as even the sausage was only few thin slices. Nonetheless we made the best of it and the dynamite sauce was great I ended up dipping the wings and fried shrimp in it. The shrimp that came with it was bland but the sauce made up for it. This was a bitter sweet visit because everything was great up until the hair and the scam of a boil! I am not sure if I would go back at this point but if I do I will...
Read moreWent to celebrate my mother in laws birthday on Sunday 8/17. We arrived everything was great. We sat down. For starters our server was horrible. 0/10. We order our food, food arrives. The only thing that was okay from what we ordered was the Mac and cheese and wings. The fries calamari was a brown color and the crust was falling off. The loaded fries were not great either. Just that fake yellow cheese with some small half burnt sausages. 0/10 presentation. Fries weren't good either on texture. Seafood boils come around, the crab legs were soft at the joints so they seemed not fresh. The shrimps weren't the usual boil shrimps so they tasted weird and hard and bland. The mussels were okay but half of them were closed meaning no good. The sauce was already but just thick and weird like cornstarch sauce weird. This is my husband and my order along with my daughter who ate from my plate. Priced at 39 pp 2 sodas 8 and unlimited crab legs (only ordered own round) 18. Plus gratuity which they didn't deserve 130$ check. Subpar management and staff.
It was a total of 5 adults 1 child. We had separate checks as my family's was on 1. We went to the front paid our bill and left. I get a call from my sister in law who's still there about to get in the car and leave telling me did I pay my bill... the server RUNS outside with checks in hands to their car and says I didn't get paid for my other check. The manager also comes out and told her he didn't see my my husband and I pay. MIND YOU he came to pick up his phone form the front counter where I was standing in front of waiting to pay and WAVES and says hi pretty girl to my daughter. But says he didn't see us. . I had to provide a description of who took my payment so they could talk to her. Embarrassing my family for no good reason. Both checks were paid before we left the establishment which they CONFIRMED. The worst experience I've ever had at any establishment. She serves was rude and made comments that were just like??? What? And let alone running and hollering in the parking lot? Girl had noooooo customer service at all. Do yall not have a system? Could she not see my receipt was paid thru that system? Ridiculous. Definitely never going back. If I could give 0 stars I would...
Read moreEdited to add my second visit Fatty Crab is an absolute GEM! I stopped here for lunch on Thursday. I had several meetings and I need a space where I could sit in private, listen to my meetings, and enjoying a delicious seafood boil. My first server, Anthony was very attentive. I explained to him my needs in terms of spatial requirements because I had two suitcases with me, and told him what I wanted in terms of a meal and allowed him to do the rest in terms of sauce and spice level and Anthony did not disappoint!
After my day of meetings, I stayed through happy hour and I had the chance to meet Richard, the manager, who is super down-to-earth and shared his journey to The Fatty Crab. I promised I’d be back after my cruise—and I’m so glad I did!
On my second visit, I returned with a friend, and this time, I met Valerie, the bartender. She’s absolutely amazing! Not only did she make the most incredible lychee martinis (which must be added to the menu!), but she was also incredibly accommodating, friendly, and attentive to both of us. She even let me pay my bill the way I preferred, no questions asked. We were treated like VIPs from start to finish!
As for the food, I had the same Combo 3 again—no surprise, it was just as perfect as the first time. I also had the chance to try the restaurant's new spicy sauce (still unnamed at the time), which was made with habanero peppers and Cajun seasoning. It added the perfect level of spice and Caribbean flair to my meal without overpowering the seafood. Its game-changer!
Both times I visited, I felt genuinely welcomed and I had no wait (lunch time). The staff took the time to explain the menu, accommodated all my requests, and even brought me something off-menu to try. The service here is top-notch, and it's what truly sets The Fatty Crab apart from other seafood restaurants.
I’ve already recommended this spot to friends visiting Miami (I’m a non-local), and they had a blast during their Tuesday visit, especially enjoying Valerie's martinis and the AYCE special. Whether you're visiting solo or with friends, this is a place where you'll eat good food, have a good time with no worries. I can’t...
