This morning I went for breakfast with my toddler and husband. I typically share a plate with my picky toddler because he doesn't eat very much. I saw on the menu that kids eat free Monday thru Friday so I opted to get him his own plate. When we left my husband mentioned how expensive it was. I looked at the receipt and noticed they charged for my toddler's meal and juice. We went back and I spoke to my server Emmanuel who told me that offer excludes holidays and today is President's Day. Although it didn't mention the exclusion on the menu, he said there's nothing he can do and offered to get the manager. The manager, who is Christopher, (he didn't have a name tag) came to listen to my situation and again told me that it doesn't apply to holidays. Apparently, that disclaimer is not mentioned on the menu that I had because they "ran out of those." I told him that the only reason I got my son his own plate was because their menu was promoting the kids eat free deal. He said he can remind the servers to mention this to customers so this doesn't happen again but he can't refund me because their system has the policy that this doesn't apply to Holidays. Of course he can find a way to refund any amount he wants. He simply doesn't want to. I told him that and that they are making me, the customer, literally pay for their error and that is bad business. Also, my toddler's food wasn't even great. The eggs were cold but I didn't even care about that (I thought it was free). But i do care about this trick they pulled on me. He shrugged and said he can give me a 15% discount off my next meal. I assured him I will never be coming back as a result of this and that I would be writing a review about my experience. He said that was ok. So here it is,...
Read moreFirst and last time trying Original Pancake House. Worst breakfast we’ve ever had - horrible food, service and prices. I’d rate this zero stars if I could and here is why broken down:
[Food] • Steak Benedicts - Ive never seen such a failure of poached eggs (see picture). Is so undercooked the yolks fell out. The steak looks like it was ripped in half and boiled, the English muffin is falling apart soggy probably from the boiling water. Steak also tasted like it might be bad so fingers crossed I don’t get sick tonight. • Homefries - Stale potatoes. Yes. I can’t believe even potatoes are horrible. • Omelette - Wet mess. Just dripping with liquid no idea from where. • Pancakes - probably Bisquik mix and outrageously priced. • French Toast - Cold and also stale tasting. It’s like they premake them a few days before then microwave them to serve.
[Service] • Server never checked on us, refilled our coffees or brought us water until we were so parched at the end of our meal we had to ask her again. • Brought a coffee with lipstick mark on the cup so I question the cleanliness of the place - didn’t even apologize. Also dropped the tray of syrup and cream too.
[ Price ] • Outrageously expensive for the quality of food and service. Spent over $70 for two people. I would rather have paid that at Denny’s because at least the food and service would be...
Read moreI have been a customer at this location for over 5 years, supported them through the pandemic no matter what.
Unfortunately it seems they sold the place to a new owner and changes started to roll in. The familiar faces of some of the waiter faded away, some of them confided that there are excessive amount of them that tending to only a couple of tables is not worth it. You would think bringing extra hand will improve service, the reality it got worse.
I'm speaking just from personal experience, of the 6 times I've visited and gotten one of the new waiters 4 times dishes have come wrong, all 6 times have taken considerable more time than before to serve food even though the place is not full of patrons. One time orange juice had rotten taste and even after telling the waiter about it, did nothing to correct it.
I'm not sure if family members are involved in the business, but two busboys teenagers were slower than a turtle to clean the tables, literally carrying only one thing from the table to the kitchen instead grabbing several items or a tray to carry everything at once (Haven't seen them in subsequent visit).
Our thinking now is that if we are in a hurry we shouldn't visit and expect to spend extra time to return wrong dishes and get the...
