I ate here with my friends and my experience was amazing, but I suggest you be adventurous. I had the salt & pepper squid, shredded jelly fish salad and duck feet & mushroom hot pot. I tried my friends Chicken & sweet corn soup, orange beef and garlic chicken. The shredded jellyfish salad was phenomenal I am so very happy I ordered it. It is a cold salad of shredded jellyfish & shredded cucumber in a delicious rice vinegar, chili pepper oil and soy sauce. Nice and creamy and the heat follows the same suit as well. A definite must order. The salt & pepper squid surprised me seeing as how I expected the usual style I have been served this in the past. The pieces of squid were lightly fried in a batter of salt & pepper. There were sliced onions mixed in with the squid. All I did was a few splashes of soy sauce and pepper sauce sitting on table. The squid melted like butter in my mouth and the batter played a wonderful addition to this flavor experience. Another definite must have in my opinion. The duck feet & mushroom hot pot gave me the trifecta in my experience this evening. It comes to the table in a very very hot pot (lol) filled with the ducks feet, three different mushrooms (if I had to guess baby Bella, oyster and shitake), sliced celery and onion served inside an amazing duck broth. The broth was amazing and very hearty. Again I just sprinkled some soy sauce, white pepper and chili oil on the dish and dug in. The mushrooms were phenomenal each kind retaining it's structure cooked just perfectly. The duck foot was cooked perfectly meat falling right of the bones. The toes were tender and the meat peeled off with ease. This may sound scary to some, but it is a rich amazing dish needing not feared just to be devoured and enjoyed. My meal was fantastic, the resturaunt atmosphere was casual and everyone was enjoying themselves. Service was attentive and they ensured we didn't have a empty glad on the table for very long. The server did forget my hot pot, but when he was alerted he ensured it came out promptly. Prices weren't very bad at all for what I received in quality and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's kinda hard to give a review for this restaurant to Americans... This disheveled looking Corner restaurant is surely in a disheveled "corner" part of town where I'd like to think majority of Americans would not feel comfortable making a stop let alone stopping for a meal. Yes, it's a Buford highway part of Chamblee, GA, an ethnic town of mostly Chinese, Koreans, Vietnameses, etc. BBQ Corner restaurant seems to have been here at this corner from start --must have been at least 20 years with same owner or management. I have not been back for over 10 years due to living out of the state. Couple weekends ago, I stopped by with a mood for some authentic wonton noodle soup. Speaking of authentic Cantonese cuisine, BBQ Corner is only one of a few Chinese restaurants in the Atlanta area. (It can be so authentic that you can find duck feet at dim sum lunch, or steam sole fish with eyes and head on the plate...) BBQ Corner restaurant today looks much cleaner (esp. the man restroom) and brighter with renovation --still same kind of eating place, definitely not for dating or social ambiance. Staff is nice and welcoming, but won't wait on you hands 'n feet like American restaurants. I ordered my favorite wonton noodle soup and a 1/2 chicken baked with ginger and scallion onions... The soup was excellent esp. when your body doesn't wanna digest a heavy meal. The baked chicken with the specialty mix of oil and soy sauce on steamed white rice was delicious; and still quite a bit left over for a next day meal. All for about 30 bucks incl. a nice tip. Sure l would come...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wanted to give this restaurant a go since I see every time I am in the area. This time I came here specially to give it a shot. I was disappointed to say the least. For some reason I expected some really authentic tasty Chinese food. It was just meh. The food made me think of the typical shopping plaza Chinese food store. I had the General's chicken even though I know this is not a traditional dish, It is how I gauge a new Chinese restaurant when I first eat there. My lady had the Kung Pao Chicken initially. The chicken came out first and it was basically Kung Pao peanuts. It was like someone spilled half of the Planter's peanuts in there. Oh and the chicken! Where was the chicken???? I could not believe that they sent that dish out to a dining guest. That was sent back and she opted for the Mongolian beef. It came out quickly, tons of onions, no green onions, and the soup noodles on the bottom. Never had it that way. The sauce itself was too sweet. My General's chicken was so so.. Pretty sweet lots of batter and bits of chicken inside. We also had the BBQ pork fried rice which in all honesty was just okay. Some of the pork was old in my opinion. I could just tell by the look and taste. It was fairly dry. I can tell they use MSG because the door left us with that bloated uneasy feeling. That being said, I finally got to give the BBQ corner a shot and was not impressed one bit. The service was fast and friendly but the food...
