Overall thoughts: a very cute cafe that is easy to get to from Doraville train station with delicious pastries and good coffee.
Food: We ordered two sweet pastries, one savory pastry, two coffees, and one order of their fish shaped bread. With tip, it was ~$50. However, the price of one coffee and one pastry will probably run you $10-$15 with tip.
The sweet pastries were a strawberry & cream croissant and a mini pecan pie. We ate the croissant at the cafe. It was light and sweet. The cream was super soft, and the strawberries tasted sweet and fresh.
The savory pastry was akin to something we had in South Korea. It was a hot dog in sweet pastry with ketchup and mayo on the top. It's a unique pastry, but it was very good.
Lastly, we ordered the fish shaped bread with red bean filling. This was something that we loved and was absolutely perfect. The red bean filling is sweet and warm with just the right consistency to match the sweet pastry. This was definitely our favorite.
The coffee was also good, both in quality and taste.
Service: The pastries are set up as self-service, where you pick up tongs and a tray and select the items you wish to purchase. Once completed, head up to the main counter for payment. This is also where you can order coffee or sandwiches.
Atmosphere: The inside has a cozy and warm vibe that is very pleasant. There are a variety of seating options (hi-tops, regular tables, and low chairs) to choose from.
The only downside is that if there are multiple people browsing the pastries, it's not clear which direction you should walk and makes the area feel a...
Read moreWe needed a spot to get some work done on a Sunday afternoon, so we pulled into White Windmill. Whatever you imagine when you think of 'cafe vibes,' I'm pretty sure you'll find it here. There's a telltale whiff of caffeine and baked goods in the air, chill music in the background, and the just-right din of other customers that get you into productivity mode (of course, the free wifi helps to that end too).
There are baked goods galore, with cakes (whole and sliced) and macarons sitting enticingly in the fridge. There were even a few gluten-free options available, though many of them seemed to be sold out by the afternoon. There's a similar profusion of drink offerings, many of which are offered both iced and hot. I was curious about quite a few unique ones, like rose and charcoal. But with the lines so long behind me, it felt hard to ask too many questions (though the cashier seemed sweet enough to entertain all the ones I asked), so I settled on a lavender latte while my husband got the iced chai. With it, we also nabbed a cheesecake slice. We received the cake right away, but given a vibrating pager to let us know when our drinks were ready. All of it was delicious, though everything seemed to hit a little harder on the sugary scale than I would have preferred - including the drinks, which come pre-sweetened.
There's a pretty wide seating area, with tables, high tables, and a long communal table. The space was packed and we had to seat ourselves at a bigger table with strangers, but I appreciated that the noise level never got too loud or...

White windmill is my go-to place whenever I want a cappuccino (they’re consistently good) or when I just want to get out of the house and work in a comfy atmosphere. I’ve tried many things there but here are my favorites:
in term of drinks, I don’t have a very sweet tooth, so i usually stick with a cappuccino or a latte, they’re always perfect. I sometimes get a hot cocoa, especially when I come at night and I want to be extra comfy and indulge more on sugar. Adding their matcha latte. They must have changed it last year, because it used to not be in my taste (or maybe I had gotten it sweet by mistake), but I've been consistently getting it now, it's very good and NOT automatically sweetened, which is not that easy to find.
Their Chocolate danish and their Tissue bread are incredible. It's hard to not get one of them every time I go. The danish texture and taste is just on point, not too sweet and truly chocolatey.
Their baguettes are out of this world good. I’m from France and they’re hands down the best I’ve had in Atlanta (including French bakeries, yes.)
their pains au chocolat are consistently delicious. If you want to indulge even more, get their chocolate croissant.
the twisted donuts are better than any regular donut. They’re out really quickly though, so come early!
I had a strawberry cake from there for my birthday and it was perfect, not too sweet, just perfectly creamy.
Their sliced milk breads are also delicious, I...
