Nick is truly just a special human, his passion for food is so incredibly infectious. You can just tell his love for food by the way he talks about it and it’s extremely evident in every bite. Between Nick’s cooking and his absolutely lovely wife Carrie running the front of the house, it’s just impossible to have a bad experience here.
We came on Halloween night, fully expecting to just grab a drink or maybe an appetizer. That quickly changed to ordering drinks AND food once we sat down at the bar. Our bartender was incredibly friendly and greeted us right away. Our drinks were made quickly and were fabulous.
We ended up ordering the Bone in Pork Chop to share but before our entrée came out Chef Nick sent out an unexpected treat, the Lamb Chops. Let me just say I’ve never had lamb in my life, I’m not a gamey meat kind of person so I’ve just never cared to try it. But to my complete surprise this was absolutely NOT that. It actually kinda blew my mind how tender and flavorful it was without being the least bit gamey. It had me ravenously picking up the bone and eating it, leaving my manners somewhere tucked away in my purse. It’s safe to say that Lamb is definitely something I will be having more of in the future.
Now after devouring that our Bone in Pork Chop came out to us and this thing is MASSIVE! They do NOT skimp on portion sizes here, you get what you pay for and more. When I tell you this Pork Chop was tender, we were quite literally using our fork to “cut” it. It was spectacular, seasoned perfectly and that Black Garlic Tupelo Honey sauce…seriously bottle it and sell it. It was a perfect match with the pork, the grilled pears and sweet potatoes. Truly an immaculate dish from conception to execution.
Of course since we just came for “drinks” and already inhaled two entrée’s at this point we had to finish strong with ordering dessert! The special Halloween dessert they had looked amazing but since I’m celiac we ordered the tried and true crème brûlée. I’ve had a lot of crème brûlées, I mean like A LOT. This one is still by far my absolute favorite. It’s perfectly chilled, not too sweet and the vanilla bean comes through cleanly without being all you can taste. I’m really looking forward to trying more desserts from their new pastry Chef Kourtney (I will order whatever gluten free dessert you make, like all of them, every single time they’re beyond appreciated 😂🩷).
Side Note: Being Celiac this is one of the very few restaurants locally where I don’t feel like a burden or just seen as this obnoxiously pretentious person for simply just wanting to enjoy a nice meal out that’s also safe. This disease is hard, especially as someone who loves food as much as I do. So thank you Nick, Carrie, and the whole team, for always allowing me to have a wonderful, worry free night out.
P.S. I did notice the recent addition of “gluten free” notations on your menu. It might seem like a small detail, but it did not go unnoticed and is very appreciated. Thank you for the...

The Cellar and Bella’s finally have some real competition!
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, elegant, and inviting — roses and a candle on the table set the mood perfectly, and even the chairs were comfortable enough to settle in and enjoy the evening.
The hostess greeted us with genuine professionalism and friendliness, seating us right away. Our server was phenomenal — knowledgeable about both the menu and the specials, confident in her drink recommendations, and perfectly balanced in her attentiveness. She managed to be right there when we needed her without ever hovering — truly top-tier service.
And then came the food… oh, the food. The filet was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, cooked exactly to order with a beautiful char on the outside. The garlic butter was a game-changer — so flavorful I found myself dipping everything in it. The pimento cheese dip appetizer was hands down some of the best I’ve ever had — creamy, rich, and bursting with flavor.
For two drinks, an appetizer, and two entrées, the price was right in line with what you’d expect from a quality steakhouse — on par with The Cellar and Bella’s.
Dothan now officially has three elevated, yet unpretentious restaurants to choose from, and Nick’s Chop House is an absolutely amazing addition to the lineup. We’ll definitely...
