We decided to head to Olive Garden with our family after church today. There were 8 of us in our party. I have 2 little girls so I always split a Tour of Italy with them and still have food left over for later. Well I ordered that entree. My husband ordered the unlimited soup and salad, my sister in law and brother in law also each got an entree, plus an appetizer and a kids meal for their son, my father in law ordered some kind of shrimp plate. The server brought out a single salad for our entire family. She didn’t bring enough plates so that my 3 year old could have a little salad. I then asked for an extra plate, which she brought. My sister in law then told her that we would probably need another salad since we had 8 people in our party. (Keep in mind that my husband ordered unlimited soup and salad.) we were then informed that we would have to pay extra if we wanted more salad. This didn’t sit right with me as it didn’t make any sense. She then tried to say that if we only had 4 people in our party we wouldn’t have to pay. (Makes even less sense) I told her my husband ordered unlimited soup and salad . She informed me that he could eat as much as he wanted, but we would still have to pay for more salad. My husband didn’t even get an extra bowl of salad. She said that that one bowl counted as his too. (Makes totally no sense. It is even hard to type this out and make it make any sense. ) She then tried to blame the extra charge on the extra plate I requested for my 3 year old. I decided I wasn’t going to argue even though I was totally confused and nothing she said made any sense. When the bill came I realized I was charged an extra $5 for salad when my husband ordered unlimited salad. My three year old didn’t eat that much extra salad. She is 3!!! As a table of 8 we only had 2 salads. I don’t think we were trying to take advantage of the salad. Our bill was over $50. My sister in law’s bill was over $80. I feel like we shouldn’t have been charged nearly $5 just so that my 3 year old could have a plate for a little bit of salad. This has never happened before, and if this is how cheap Olive Garden is going to start being I will not be visiting anymore. It’s too expensive to be adding on stupid charges that literally make no sense. I am very dissatisfied with the service we received at lunch today. $5 may not seem like all that much, but it is the principle behind it that makes me angry. Dothan Olive Garden needs...
Read moreMy family and I ate there tonight and after a 25 minute wait, our table was given away to someone else. Then we got sat between 2 other couples, mind you there was 4 in our group. Our waitress, was pregnant, which I have no problem with but when the waitress takes time with the couple who came in after you and my group has to wait over 40 minutes for drinks, then I have a problem. I ordered unlimited soup and salad and when I got my soup it was cold, as was the breadsticks. When I went to put the rest of the salad on my plate I had to wait an additional 15 minutes for ranch dressing. I never got asked for more soup or if everything was good. My family waited almost an hour for their entrees and the food was cold. It's bad when we wanted dessert but refused to wait another 30 to 40 minutes for dessert. My family and I normally spend over $300 on dinner and usually leave 50 to 100 tip, tonight we left $4.00 tip because the service was that bad. My family will not go back to the Dothan, AL location. Managers of resturants get bonuses based on sales, well here you go. That $300 sale you could have had was cut in in half tonight because you are not doing your job and I refuse to pay for substandard service and cold food. Maybe corporate Olive Garden will pay attention and make the necessary changes, because some of us in higher paying corporate jobs do not always go in wearing business suits and diamonds. Treat people equally and provide the service you advertise. Marketing can make or break a business in a...
Read moreI stopped in during my lunch break, and it was a great time.
The waitstaff was exceptional. They were all very pleasant and attentive. The bar keeper was a perfect conversationalist who was genuinely happy to be there, and it showed. Best customer service I have had the pleasure of meeting in my travels.
The food was top tier as well. I had the fried calamari appetizer, and it was cooked perfectly. It came out to the table hot and fresh, was easy to bite through, and wasn't overly soaked with oil.
The Chicken & Gnocchi soup (pronounced No-key) was also very good. I'm normally not too fond of cooked carrots, but with a cream based soup, I find it tastes great. If you happen to get it, when they ask if you want grated cheese, get it. It completes the soup.
I also happened to get the Seafood Fettuccine Alfredo. It comes with shrimp and scallops. The shrimp were savory, and their texture had that beautiful pop when bitten into. The scallops were also very good, not chewy at all, which is a huge plus. Perfectly tender and complemented the alfredo Fettuccine well. The noodles were cooked al dente as they should be with Italian dishes.
If you're a fan of sweet tea, they have some that you'll love. The perfect ratio of sugar and steeped the right amount of time.
The tiramisu was so good that I forgot to grab a picture before I had already eaten it all! Would highly recommend it if you're a fan of coffee cakes.
TL:DR an excellent lunch or dinner choice for Italian style food, with...
