If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I was excited to see a soul food place in Douglasville. I walked in and was met by a line for people placing orders. I was like yessss. Food most be good. Several people were waiting for pick ups. As I looked around there were families that were sitting down and leaving due to the extensive wait for the owner to make their plates while also making to go plates. I see that the families sitting had lots of left overs on their plates with napkins on them. Meaning not taking the food to go. It was mac, dressing, cornbread, stuff like that. I didn't let that detour me, I simply placed an order online due to the wait and figured I would come back. While Yelp said 15 minutes. The text confirmation said 50 min! No sweat, ran to the grocery store and came back. Only to have my order no ready. The daughter said she is making your 3 veggie plates now...15 minutes later, I see people from the kitchen bringing food with no gloves etc to the food bar area. I ask for them to cancel my order and the owner said ok. I said, I would need a refund... she said she didn't have anything to do with the check out method and refused to look at my confirmation or attempt to refund. The order status said picked up!! I politely requested again for resolution only to be met with we have nothing to do with online ordering. Please do not patronize this place! Go to your real mothers home or the Cenacle Bistro because they will close soon due to lack of...
Read moreI agree with the rest of the reviews on here, if you all read each review the owner is very rude in her response(angry black women syndrome) I’m a black women and a business owner myself and her attitude is despicable to the response of her customers.
I visited her establishment twice. The first time I was an awe that I had a Hawaiian role (that I could’ve easily purchased at Publix) on my plate, this is NOT like Mamas! My grandma made all her breads from scratch so I was displease and it was soak and soggy.
The 2nd time I decided to try the greens and meatloaf! Yall that was the most disgusting 🤮 greens and dry tasteless meatloaf I’ve ever had.
And I never went back. I chose to leave this review because a colleague of mines wanted to try this location recently and asked if I had ever been and I said a matter of fact “Yes and it was not a pleasant experience service wise and food was not up to par”
I’m from Miami FL and we can COOK down there! And my colleague is from Chicago so I just knew she was going not be very disappointed and then we read the reviews and saw the owners response and it was even more unprofessional than I remember when I visited a while back.
Change the attitude and make the food better (make the bread from scratch if it’s truly JUST LIKE MAMA) and listen to the reviews and not respond unprofessionally.
Good luck on the...
Read moreOff the recommendation of WOD, I was excited to try this establishment today, and I’m not here to tear it down. Just an honest review. Unfortunately I am left unimpressed. I have an IG foodie page and try to highlight spots in Dville as much as possible, but sadly I won’t be able to post this one. So…pasta in mac n cheese was overcooked - way too soft and UNSEASONED. The yams were, as you can see, overcooked and had an overcooked borderline burnt taste, and the greens just need more of something. The only thing that was ok was the fried pork chop and the cornbread. One taste of my peach cobbler and it was enough for me. This meal was way off. I’m not one of those “this don’t taste like MY mama’s so it ain’t good” kind of people. It can be different AND good. But this was not good and went in the trash and I ain’t about throwing away food. This was Sunday dinner! Maybe I got a bad batch on an off day. I certainly hope it’s not leftovers from yesterday. I think WOD just goes crazy over anything slightly different or new (although I know this restaurant is just in a new location.) Just an honest review. I always say…Try it for yourself, but definitely gets less than “mid” from me. Sad that previous reviews indicate they don’t respond appropriately to constructive criticism. People wouldn’t come if they didn’t want to support or see a...
