Totally bummed out. Wanted to try a new pizza place, Al's got halfway decent reviews, so I called in an order. After ordering, the order taker told me the total was going to be almost $22 dollars for a 10 inch pizza with 4 ingredients. Looking at their menu online, the total should have only been $16.50. When I asked why the difference, I was told they changed their prices a couple of weeks ago. Would have been nice to know before I ordered. Told him to cancel my order. I know prices are increasing, but an almost $6 difference in price just wasn't worth it for a small pizza.
UPDATE (6/2): To the owner, thank you for your response. While I appreciate the detailed economics you provided, you really could have avoided that had you seen the line in my prior review that says, "I know prices are increasing." That, however, was not my point. My complaint was that you were advertising one price online (which, incidentally, people actually do visit when looking for new pizza places), but only after an order is placed to find out what was advertised is far from the actual price. And, the response from the order-taker was an, "Oh, well, too bad so sad. Prices went up a few weeks ago." In some circles, that could be called "bait and switch."
NOW, in all fairness... I up'd my rating, because: 1), it probably wasn't fair for me to give you such a low rating based on that encounter, and; 2) even though you still hadn't updated your site's pricing as of late last week, when I just checked now, I see that you finally did.
Bottom line - "Next time" (as you said to me), I would advise you to understand the problem before you send off a response. I may have been willing to try your place again, but not after that kind of...
Read moreOrdered a small cheese pizza! The quintessential measure of a REAL pizza parlor. We are a new business owner in Downers Grove. We decided to order from here as I thought they were established. The pizza had no sauce, so dry, cheese was good but salty. Crust was good. When ordering I had told the employee change for a hundred. Driver gets to my business and says "they didn't tell me!" Then I ws able to find 30 dollars for the 25 fee, and the driver tells me he doesn't have change! I then asked where is my 1 liter coke, amd he gives me a sprite! Just a terrible experience. So a small pizza with a one liter cost me 30 00! Unreal, I should have refused delivery but I'm better than that! As a chef and business owner I'm sure I will never order from Al's again. 48yrs old and this was the worst service...
Read moreI’ve given this location pass after pass but today I am done. I will never patronize them again. The chicken is amazing but every time I order my order is never right. They’ve given me a wing ding instead of a whole piece of chicken. They gave me chicken with no fries, coleslaw in the container with the hot chicken and today I was told bread does not come with a chicken dinner. I’ve patronized the Dad’s businesses in North Riverside and Bolingbrook for years and I’ve always received bread. When I asked to speak to the owner, I was told the gentleman was the owner and I know for 100% certainty that he was not the owner. I will be finding a new place I to buy my...
