Greetings, I order a veggie sub tonight at 937pm, I asked the lady to add extra cucumbers and add red onions. The veggie sub comes with banana peppers, green bell pepper white onions, tomatoes, and cheese. First thing I noticed is the sandwich was not the correct size I ordered for, secondly I unwrap the sandwich and I separate the bread third thing I noticed was the missing veggies, it was half a sliced of green pepper and all cucumber, the cheese was molded and stuck on the third slice of cheese was a FLY, not just any FLY, a big FLY was stuck on a slice of cheese, and the FLY was still moving, the wing on the 🪰 was moving. I immediately called the restaurant like four times, finally the same lady answered the phone the fifth time I called. I expressed my concerns in details, She began to get irate with me, going back and forth with me telling me that she prepared the veggie sub the correct way. She call me a liar, and told me to bring the sandwich back to the restaurant to get a refund. Then she hangs the phone up on me while I'm talking. Twenty minutes later I arrive to Mr. SUBMARINE. she came to drive thur with the same rude, disrespectful, and ignorant attitude, I ask her, why are you yelling at me. I told her that I just wanted my refund, you told me you will refund me. I never got my refund back after making a second trip to the restaurant. She kept the sub that I brought back. Previously she lied to me, saying that she will refund me. I told her that I wasn't leaving until I get my full refund back. I gave her back the sandwich and they both refused to refund me, and then they call the police on me. I have proof on my phone of the sandwich and the phone call was recorded. I didn't get their name. but I have a description of both employees. The guy is black, shaggy looking, dusty looking, dirty finger nails, no hair cut, no clean shave face and heavy set, he wasn't wearing gloves at the time. The young lady was full figure, and white/Hispanic, she had on a cap, her was hanging, no hair net, no ponytail. Both employees was hostile, cruel, disrespectful, and ignorant. Both employees were not wearing gloves. They call their manager to talk to the police over the phone. The two gave a false report trying to get me arrested, telling the police I was a threat. However, It didn't work. I wasn't charged with anything. I never once disrespected the two vicious employees. My only loss was money for A INFESTED SUBMARINE. Don't just take my word. READ THE REVIEWS PEOPLE! IT'S SAYS A LOT ABOUT THE MANAGER/OWNER! I REPEAT THE CHEESE WAS MOLDED AND THERE WAS A BIG FLY 🪰 STUCK ON THE THIRD SLICE OF CHEESE. I SUGGEST YOU ALL DON'T EAT FROM Mr. SUBMARINE AT THE DOWNERS GROVE LOCATION. When I was waiting for the police, I saw/watch BOTH EMPLOYEES PREPARED A SANDWICH WITH NO GLOVES ON! I WAS PARK IN FRONT OF THE DRIVE THUR WINDOW. GOD is POWERFUL, and Karma is real! Lying on a regular customer won't get you far in life. FOR THE PEOPLE THAT'S GOING TO ORDER FROM THIS INFESTED RESTAURANT, PLEASE CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE EAT IT,...
Read moreOkay so some details to know about Mr. Sub as a chain. Since they seem to be franchised, it is VERY clear the ownership of each location can make some fairly large changes to the operations one would come to expect if just visiting just one other location. This is especially glaring when coming from begrudgingly having to visit the Jefferson Park area location on Cicero in Chicago and suffering the immense nickle-and-diming of the ownership at that location. This one, in Diners Grove however, is an order of magnitude cleaner, has lower sandwich pricing, MUCH faster service, free drink refills, super friendly staff, and even has the added benefit of cheaper Du Page Country sales tax! Unfortunately, since Mr. Sub has some franchising standards, the food is generally uniform from one location to the next, but just because you have a good name behind you and the ability to serve high quality food is not a license to lack everywhere else (except in Chicago, because population density). Glad I moved back to the burbs'. Much better service out here in general!
As for the food, it's about as Chicago stereotypical Italian-American sub sandwich deli fare. Good stuff. Maybe not Earth shattering, but they've got the meats down, the cheese, and the bread too. Oh, and if you're getting the original sub, their sub sauce is to die for. It's what I keep coming back for every time. To me, even though all their subs are fantastic, it's just not worth it not to get the Mr. Sub original. Fair prices (usually), and intriguing styling. A friendly environment at least at this location for all parties! Great lunch...
Read moreI have been going to Mr. Submarine for over 30 years, probably longer than that. The one in Downers Grove IL was a little high priced but understandable for the neighborhood. The people who work there are very good. This place has to have new owners because all of a sudden the prices are through the roof and the toppings are skimpy. The meat has always been weighed so you get the same sandwich everywhere. At the Downers Grove location they are skimping on meat and toppings and it has to be new owners because Mr. Sub has never skimped on the veggies. Do not give me inflation, because they charge enough to cover it. It has to be new owners and they have lost a loyal client. Will never go back to this money hungry greedy new owners again. It definitely is not the workers. They give what they are told to give.To the New owner, save your bull generic response for someone else because all you do is pay lip service and nothing ever gets done. Will never enter doors to your business again. Also do not give me some website that when you go to it, it...
