We love everything about Giovanni’s On State! Although In my world it’s known as “Chico’s”. Chico is the owner, and he is a force to be reckoned with. He is a hard working guy with a tremendous following, who seems to know everyone. His wife, lily, is friendly and thoughtful and the perfect calming balance to Chico’s whirlwind personality. The entire staff is hardworking and welcoming.

The pizza here is amazing. We like to stop in and grab a slice or two for lunch. There’s a great selection to pick from, and they are constantly changing things up. The Brooklyn is my favorite - so flavorful - I usually get that and a slice of something different. Chico will usually point something out that he thinks is especially good or different - he’s really into pizza, and gets excited about his different variations.

The location is perfect for walking around town. It’s a small spot, so expect to squeeze in at the counter, sit at a table out front, or find a bench in beautiful downtown Doylestown to sit and watch people walk by.

In addition to the pizza, we love the meatballs. They’re legit Italian meatballs, and the sauce is perfect. Sometimes we’ll just pick up a couple orders of meatballs and a salad for dinner. The chicken parm is big enough for 2 and is my go to when I want to pick up something quick for dinner.

Stop in and see these guys, you won’t regret it. Great food, good portions, very fair price, and friendly - hardworking people in a great town. What else could you ask for? When you go, tell them Jim and Rob sent you, or as Chico would say…..”Jimmy and...

My wife had an gathering ao I decided to treat the boys for some time at the Y and pizza then home to bed. Decided to check out a new pizza instead of our usual. I ordered the pie, they said 15. Decided to give the boys a few extra minutes to play in case pizza was slow to come out if it was crowded. Get there after 20 min. I tell the guy my order and name..says he doesn't have the order. My feeling was he thought I was making it up cause he just said I dont have any order for that name... I decide to show him my phone and say that the number correct... he said he sees the time now 25 minutes ago. No apologies nothing just ok. So he said he can make one. I ask how long.. 8-10min. Cause now its late and my boys are starved and I have to get them home. I had left them in the car which I never done but my youngest hurt his foot and couldn't walk and I parked out front and can see them in the window. I tell the guy fine but I got to get my kids.. he says dont worry he will bring it out to the car. I said ok and pay. After the third time my son asked (he is starving as its way later than they eat normally) he says how much longer. I explained i cant make it go any quicker but we must be patient. Now I look and realize its more than 15 min so I go inside. The guy sees me takes the pizza off the top of the ovens... I mean its bad enough no apology but then to do that is just poor customer service. Now my kids are eating in their booster seats on the way home and I am not going to be returning. The pizza is small and just...

Nestled in the heart of historic Doylestown, PA, Giovanni’s on State is a true gem for Italian food lovers. Whether you’re grabbing a quick slice or indulging in a whole pie, you’ll be greeted by the warm smile of Chico, the owner, who’s been crafting mouthwatering pizzas the same way for over 25 years.

Open late on Fridays and Saturdays until 3 AM, Giovanni’s is the perfect spot to satisfy your cravings any time. Their menu goes beyond pizza, offering everything from calzones and pasta to cheesesteaks and classic Italian entrées. Hosting an event? They’ve got you covered with Party Trays and catering services to make your gathering unforgettable.

For my fellow gluten-free foodies, Giovanni’s offers Gourmet Pizza made fresh daily. Choose from a 12-inch gluten-free crust or a 10-inch cauliflower crust—a perfect combination of flavor and dietary-friendly options.

And if you’re lucky, like we were, you might just get to experience one of their special surprise meals—a treat that’s sure to make your visit unforgettable.

I had ordered a tuna wrap while my daughter got her standard 2 slices of pepperoni pizza. When. My food came out it was actually a tuna club. By this time, my daughter finished her slices, and I was starving, so I just ate that because I didn't want to wait again. I didn't realize it came with fries, or I would have passed on them. I'm not sure if this was their version of a wrap or a misunderstanding. The associate did repeat my order back to me and said wrap. Aside from the error in my order, the sandwich was good. I couldn't even finish it all, so guess what's for dinner. I asked my daughter the pizza lover how hers was, and she said she was so hungry that she didn't get to enjoy to rate them properly. Aside from the other error, the place was very nice and clean. I love the huge open-air window. You could enjoy your meal inside at the counter and enjoy fresh air or sit outside at one of the hightops as we did. I would visit again.

In short: YES! Giovanni's is owned and operated (in part) by Chico, a man who takes pride in his pizza. Flavors range from traditional to creative and are available on flour, cauliflower, or gluten free crust. We tried all three at lunch today and I'd say you should go with the cauliflower crust if you're gluten free. I at the rest of my cauli pie for dinner and it was still amazingly good. Crust was petty thin on most already-made pies when we were there. They're crispy but not hard, and are available by the slice or whole pie. We also had a Buffalo Chicken Salad that was super fresh. Seating is limited to four tables but this is really a carry-out spot. We ate there anyway and had fun talking with Chico and Mike, people watching, and enjoyed whatever playlist was running. Again: Five stars, all day. Just go.
