I am a homeschool mom of 3, my oldest has been begging to see an art museum and I thought this would be a good starting point. As far as art goes this was a great first step. My 3 (7,7,9 year olds) were fascinated and it was small enough it wasn't overwhelming. You might question why the 1 star? This was strictly due to one of the male staff members. I do understand seeing three young children can concern adults these days. My girls have been to museums, historical sights, etc. They know how to behave, were not yelling, running, touching. They were simply sitting, staring and admiring the art. Could not have been better behaved. I actually had a worker call me over to apologize, that I had to handle them myself and told me it must be tiring. I was not only offended he was down right rude. We had been having a calming and peaceful experience till then. He proceeded to tell me they have a rule all children must be within 5 feet of you or attached to you. He asked if I could handle that. I don't even think they had been 3 feet from me. Mind you, this was in the middle of the museum. My girls hadn't done a thing wrong or spoken above a whisper. I don't know if he thought I was a nanny or what but it was beyond offensive. I quietly warned my girls to stay away from him and ushered them to the next exhibit and we enjoyed sitting and looking at the rest of the paintings. Needless to say this was not a family friendly experience. Maybe they get frequent rambunctious and destructive or loud children I can't be sure. Children will never learn how to behave properly in society if we assume they are bad without any provocation. I would skip this if you have young children, as he made the experience less...

Read moreThe artwork was great but impossible to enjoy. Went to see the Colors of the Moon exhibition and directly across the hallway was a wedding reception blasting hip-hop music with an open door directly into the gallery. It was like attending an exhibit in a nightclub.
Also, two of the guards made me very uncomfortable. At one point, I took a sip from my water bottle and one guard came over to tell me I can’t drink in there. No problem; I put away my water bottle and apologized (though there was no way of knowing water was prohibited) but he kept standing right in front of me and repeated that I couldn’t drink there. I had to apologize at least four times before he would leave me alone, which left me on edge. Later, I left the exhibit to take a sip of water in an empty lobby (without any artwork) and a different guard said in a very angry tone “you can’t be drinking here.” No “please do not drink here” and again, I had to apologize several times before she walked away.
The blaring hip-hop music was bad enough, but being made to feel like a delinquent for an honest mistake made this a...
