"Cyborg One only has four reviews? Criminal!"
Cyborg One has served the local area as the #1 gaming and comic book store for YEARS. The owner is hands on, and even though I only manage to visit every few months now, he still greets me every time by name!
It was because of his friendly service and passion for comics that I started collecting comics again, and once a month I get a cheerful call letting me know that my Batwoman issue is in, and to call with any questions.
The comics are well organized and the selection is vast! The staff will always have recommendations based on their own favorites, what kind of art you like, or even just what kind of stories you are into.
In addition to all the comics, there is also games and collectables. Some of my favorite collectables are the Squaresoft Play Arts figures and the Transformers that they have there. But lets get into the games! They sell all sorts of tabletop games, from euro to strategy to good old Munchkin. They also carry Games Workshop figures and supplies, and hold gaming nights! Magic the Gathering is also super well supplied, and I've never seen such a amazing selection of singles. The commons are in six or so large, large boxes, and there is neatly organized binders for things more rare. For the super-sought after, they are individually sleeved and placed in the glass case right by the register. For Dungeons and Dragons they have a few of the newer version books, and lots of dice to choose from.
On gaming nights it can feel a little crowded, and displays get pushed to the side to make way for tables and camaraderie. Even though it gets a bit tight, especially on release nights, everyone is in such good spirits so it doesn't feel overwhelming.
If you love games, if you love comics, if you love sci-fi, if you love figures- go to Cyborg One. I always...
Read moreLocated in charming Doylestown PA, you will find Cyborg One - a very nice comic shop in the heart of a very touristy area in Buck's County. Parking wasn't too bad the weekend I visited, but maybe I was lucky. It was a hopping little town, so maybe come early on the weekends.
Cyborg One is very well-organized and laid-out. It leans toward a more modern shop vibe, but there was still plenty of old school feel to it! New books neatly laid out on the walls, a half-price trade paperback area to look for bargains and back issues in the rear of the store. The shop is bright and clean. There is something here for a wide range of comic and pop culture shoppers.
I was very pleased to see a used TPB section, which is somewhat rare these days. Noticeably missing were dollar bins, which I like to see in any comic shop, but the back issues were reasonably priced (if a bit on the higher side). Back issue offerings were limited, but the quality was high and the selection nicely curated. The owner knows his customers and what they like. It's a great store.
Doylestown is a great place to visit with the family, so don't go it alone. There are tons of shops, cafes, etc. to keep your companions happy while you peruse comics. After shopping at Cyborg One, go get a coffee, slice, bubble tea etc. with your friends and family. It's a fun place to visit.
Overall, Cyborg One is a premium comic shop with a good mix of old and new. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Definitely put this shop on your list of comic stops. It's a 4.5 for...
Read moreReceived a gift certificate for Christmas from a co-worker. Never shopped here before, local government employee who works within walking distance. Purchased a D&D Mad Mage book during the store's groundhog day sale @ 20 % off. Found my friend had same book, went to return book to store on Wed., 2.19.20. Found there to be a single copy of Tyranny of Dragons in shop, requested an even exchange as both books were same cover price. Was charged an additional $10.59 for the new book (not simply an even exchange, a reasonable transaction given exact same cover price) and told by Pierce McPierced Nose Bridge that because the sale was over, the shop would not extend the courtesy of of the sale price from two weeks prior (Tyranny wasn't in stock at that time or else I'd have bought it). So I could have simply said no thank you, gone to a preferred comic shop and/or online retailer, but then would've been stuck with a useless gift certificate. I instead opted to buy Tyranny and write of my experience. I'm no small business owner - I'm certain that 10.59 was a valuable sale on perhaps a slow Wednesday. However, I understand experience and investment. Read: had I a better experience at Cyborg One that day, I would've chosen to invest my time and far more than 10.59 in any disposable income I may have had in the future there in other products. Instead, I've opted to cut my loss, and write an 11 dollar review on Google and suggest you think twice before you shop here. ...
