Penn Taproom — Restaurant in Doylestown

So wife and I came here for a date night. Which we don't get oftem with my insane travel schedule. First, our Server was awesome. Very attentive, very warm and friendly. I'm assuming people come here for the Craft Beers.

We started the evening off with Seafood Ceviche....Lol....no...just no....I've never experienced a ceviche like that....it was messy, more of a soup....uneven cut shrimp, and scallop pieces(?) Drowning in a bowl of some broth...So after that, wife just said lets just get another appy and talk a while...

So we get the Cheesesteak Eggrolls...sigh....Imagine 2 nice crunchy eggrolls...with maybe a teaspoon of cheesesteak inside of each one, came with Sciracha Ketchup.....Lets call it Ketchup, and know you're going to get charged $15...(I had a better version of that at Thunderbird Bowling Lanes in Warrington for $9)

So toward the end of the evening we wanted something to help absorb the drinks, we got the Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel bites. OK....Take a Giant Frozen Pretzel slice it into nuggets, microwave it to heat it, and lightly sprinkle cinnamon sugar over it....thats literally what you get. No taste, no buttery flavor...

The other really annoying thing is the fact that you have to scan two different q r codes to get a food menu and then a separate drink menu. Why can't you just put them on one scan? To have them on multiple scans is ridiculous.

So to wrap this up, don't go for food! Just get a drink or 2 and listen to the music. Thankfully the Service made up for a poor kitchen. You can look at my profile and other reviews, I am very easy on establishments. Would...

I recently visited the Penn Taproom and had an amazing experience. The restaurant has a wonderful local bar ambiance, and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. I especially loved their outdoor patio, which is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal during the spring, summer, and fall.

But let's talk about the food - I had the chicken nachos and they were absolutely delicious. The nachos were made from crispy corn tortilla chips and were generously topped with creamy queso cheese, fresh tomatoes, onions, black olives, and spicy jalapeño peppers. The chicken was cooked to perfection, and the dish was rounded out with a large side of creamy guacamole and sour cream. It was the perfect balance of spicy and creamy, and the flavors all worked together perfectly.

The menu at the Penn Taproom has something for everyone, but the chicken nachos are definitely a standout. They are a great choice for a snack to share with friends or as a meal all on their own. The portions are generous, and the flavors are bold and delicious.

Overall, I highly recommend the Penn Taproom. The food is fantastic, and the outdoor patio is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a meal. Above average experience. Then again I’m picky as I worked in a restaurant for 7 years and was disappointed as this was rated “one of the 10 best restaurants in Doylestown” however I would give it a second shot assuming I ordered the wrong things the first time around.

Pros: able to have checks split outside seating live music on Thursdays and Sunday’s (that you can hear from outside but doesn’t overpower) great view of town street nice decor waitress was great about knowing what wasn’t available on the menu (although never mentioned when handing the menu to read over) wasabi mayo was not overly spicy

Cons: food lacked flavor (granted they were out of the dish I wanted - jambalaya - and the dish I ordered (tuna wrap) wasn’t checked as “recommended” but even the chips had no flavor (I’m a Maryland girl so when you claim “Chesapeake” that means old bay and I want to FEEL it) waitress was great about replacing my poorly made drink - flat club soda - however no one removed it from the table??? waitress came around to make sure I enjoyed the meal but never refilled my water without my request no suggestions were made such as items and/or continuing...
