At the time of this writing regardless of what Google shows, they do NOT take reservations online. We made reservations for 7:15pm for 4 people. When we got there they had sat all of the available tables at 7:00pm when they opened. Meaning we had to wait until someone left. We waited patiently for 45mins and during this time noticed other people started to come in asking about their reservations. It wasn't until someone in the party questioned the hostess about our table. After some some unprofessionalism from the hostess, the manager came out to talk to us and sat us in their other restaurant but still let us order from the Tapanomi menu.
After our table was sorted out and we were our waiter Leo, made the whole experiences much better, the manager comp'd all our drinks for the night due to the long wait time and mix up with our table. The food was absolutely amazing, the lobster mix hand roll was probably my favorite of the night, but all of the yakitori style dishes were also very good. The Yellowfin Tuna Nigiri was tasted fresh and was excellently prepared. Prices are a little on the higher side for tapas style dishes especially since the yakitori dishes only come with one skewer. Since we didn't sit in the Tapanomi side I can't say much for the atmosphere, but the Akasaka side was great.
With the exception of one rude hostess and the table mix up, Tapanomi is a great place to enjoy some tapas style food and drinks with friends and we'll...
Read moreWe got the Nekomaki Roll, Beef Short Ribs with the clear soup, and Korean Fried Chicken & an Alaska Volcano For 2!!
First, the ambiance and the atmosphere is cozy, intimate, but not too boujee or over bearing. This is an amazing lunch AND dinner choice with your taste of fancy.
The Korean fried chicken was perfectly fried, the chicken was moist and seasoned perfectly , the sauce was great; messy dish but our server was amazing and kept our hands clean and glasses full!
The Nekomaki has fried lobster on top and was delicious, the roll melts your mouth. The rice for all dishes was cooked perfectly and the sushi wasn’t an exception. Not too dry and not mushy and overcooked!
The short ribs were thick cut and not split in half like your typical short ribs, they give you all the meat! It’s sizzling and comes paired with rice and clear soup (Amazing)
The Alaskan Volcano For 2 was punchy, sweet, not too strong but you could definitely feel it. Came with floating fruit and flaming 150 Proof. It was great!!
The server was amazing man. I wanted to put his name but he’s obviously so amazing he’ll speak for himself when you make it in here.
Thank you Akasaka Sushi Bar and Teppan Steak! I’ll miss you when I leave Orlando 🫠 but I’ll definitely be finding...
Read moreFirst, we arrived with my sister as two separate groups. Both groups had reservations at 7:15 PM. A staff member (waiter or host?) told us there was only one table available for both groups and asked one group to wait until the other finished their meal?! That was already frustrating — especially since there were clearly two tables available.
Second, we waited two full hours for a bowl of ramen, which we eventually had to cancel because it never came.
Third, we ordered scallops that never arrived. When we asked about it, the cook insisted she had already served them — which was simply not true.
Fourth, we placed three orders of chicken skin. Only one arrived — and it was raw. Luckily, we noticed before eating it. Otherwise, we could have ended up in the ER — all while just trying to enjoy a vacation.
Fifth, most orders were messed up. The owner witnessed everything and didn’t bother to check in or offer any apology.
And all of these complaints were just from our table. My sister’s table had even more issues. They sat there for two hours and left hungry.
Overall, this was the worst dining experience we’ve ever had. If you’re looking for decent service or a place to enjoy a meal while traveling, this is definitely...
