As someone who's always on the hunt for a good cup of coffee, I stumbled upon J & A's Cafe quite by accident - and what a fortunate accident it was! Nestled right across my building, this unassuming cafe turned out to be a hidden gem, especially for breakfast enthusiasts.
On this particular morning, my agenda was tightly packed with a 9am meeting at my financial planning firm. All I wanted was a quick coffee to kickstart my day. However, the moment I stepped into J & A's Cafe, I was enveloped by the warm, inviting aroma of breakfast that was too tempting to resist. Despite my time constraints, I found myself drawn to sit down and indulge in what they had to offer.
The breakfast menu was a delightful surprise, boasting a variety of options that cater to all tastes. But what truly made my experience memorable was the exceptional service. Judy, the server, was the epitome of kindness and understanding. In my rush, I realized I didn't have the right payment card with me, nor was my Zelle set up. Judy's response was heartwarming - she assured me there was no rush and that I could settle the payment later. This level of trust and customer care is rare and commendable.
Caught up in the deliciousness of my impromptu breakfast, I almost forgot about my meeting! I had to dash out in a hurry, but I am definitely going back after my meeting to pay and express my gratitude. This experience compelled me to write this review first thing.
For anyone who's a breakfast lover, J & A's Cafe is a must-visit. Your taste buds will thank you, and the warm, friendly atmosphere will make you want to stay longer than you planned. It's not just a cafe; it's a place where you're treated like family. A big thank you to Judy and the team at J & A's Cafe for turning a simple coffee run into an unexpectedly delightful experience. Read moreJ & A’s is the perfect neighborhood breakfast spot. It has all the tenants of a good diner off of historic Route 66: good coffee (the staff seem to make it their mission to ensure you never see the bottom of your mug), quick, friendly service, and extremely reasonable prices.
Judy, one of the owners and the “J” in “J & A,” was very kind and ensured everyone in the restaurant was having a good experience.
What stood out more than anything else was how happy everyone looked; the staff were smiling, and seemed genuinely happy to be there serving newcomers and regulars alike.
I just moved here with my fiancé a couple of days ago, and I can’t wait to bring her here!

Read moreFood was okay (I got the cinnamon French toast, my wife got a breakfast plate). The food wasn't good enough to return, however that was not my main gripe with this place. Guys... It's 2025. Being cash only, WITH NO ATM, is absolutely unacceptable. Walk down the street to a taco stand on the corner and they'll at least take Venmo! Telling us to walk across the street to a Bank of America to get cash for our breakfast at a brick and mortar restaurant in LA in 2025 I coudlnt believe. Stop being cheap and pay for a basic POS system for Christ's sake.
The boomer-y signs near the register were also a...
