Coastal Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Duck

Amazing breakfast and lunch place!! I had never been here before until a friend suggested it to me. During my 7 day vacation, I visited this location 6 different times, more and more pleased each time. Everytime was perfect & the service from the staff was glorious until the last visit. I took note of the cashier’s name on the reciept “Kristin”. She had a green hat on as well as brown hair/ blue eyes. Upon entering, she looked up at us, straight face, as if she hated her job ; while on her phone. During the placement of my order, she continuously was rudley cutting me off & rolling her eyes; I was trying to add some things to my acai bowl and she would cut me off asking me “here or to-go”, then telling me my total without asking if I had more items to add. After paying, I said thank you & she looked at me with a glare— no response. While spending $14/each on acai bowls — I think an employee should be more thankful for customers.

I am not sure what sparked this employee to treat my family and I this way but it was very unprofessionally shocking. It most definitley changed my mind about the service and atmosphere of this place. All the other employees all week were very sweet, welcoming and accomodating. Experienced pretty terrible service here when I went. The young girls behind the counter could not seem to care less as they were just eating and on their phones. A young man was running around doing everything and the girls were kind of just sitting there. I felt bad. To make it worse my friend spilled his smoothie and the girls just stared at him and did nothing...then starting laughing as we were trying to pick up with napkins. Minutes later the young man came out and helped us.

He dropped the whole thing when he got it and they couldn't bother to help or make us another one. I couldn't believe that the girls just sat there and laughed at us. I've never had that experience. I'm not looking for 5 star service at a beach smoothie joint, but I would expect some sort of kindness and empathy, which we got the opposite of. I can't believe this place has any positive review based off of my experience. The smoothies are just over overpriced sugar processed juice. This place is unbeatable. My friend and I decided to come for a smoothie bowl (we are both smoothie bowl connoisseurs) and we were astonished by how AMAZING the açaí bowls were. Fresh açaí, fruits, and overall fresh food. The next day we went back to try out the breakfast burritos and we were once again blown away by not only the flavor, but the wonderful service. The man who served us was extremely friendly and welcoming. He told us about his journey starting this place and how it has been difficult to get costumers due to the location so far in the back of the shopping center. Both him and I would love to see more people eating here because it is truly wonderful. Will be coming...
