Luxor Karaoke & Bar — Restaurant in Duluth

This place is extremely greedy when it comes to money. I wanted to give 5 stars because the first time I went with 2 of my friends, we had an amazing time. The price was a wee bit high but it wasn’t that bad. Now for the 2nd time? Worst place to come to especially if you’re paying a deposit to put a room on hold. The deposit doesn’t even go towards the cost of the room or toward your drinks/food. It’s just an extra few hundred bucks in their pocket. Not to mention they add their own tip which is suppose to be voluntary. Now I’m not saying I don’t tip because I always tip even if the service wasn’t great but after seeing that final bill and the way we were treated, I won’t be coming back and I strongly advise that nobody comes here because you’ll be slapped with a bill of hundreds of dollars. 150$ for a BOTTLE?! The lady argued with me about their prices and told me it was more expensive at other places. Lies. I’ve been to other places and the most they’ve charged for a bottle is less than half for what they charge. Basically this 2nd experience was a huge joke and very disappointing considering it was fun the first time I went. The lady came in to the room trying to take our bottles with 15 min to spare that we paid for and my friend told her to put it down because we still have time left. I mean, our bill was over 500$.. But anyways, I guess just don’t make a deposit and just come in whenever to buy the room hourly up front because this place is dead every time I’ve come here and you’ll get a room no problem. I can see why people don’t come here. Save your money and go to Echo or another...

Ok where do I begin? I was feeling despit and lonely due to "life" being what it is. So I decided to visit a bar that would be the exact cultural opposite of what is in my comfort zone. This review is based on a post pandemic experience so......I walk in to a bar that is empty but every private karaoke is full. I am not familiar with how korean or asian karaoke works so I was expecting an american version where it's a stage and a crowd. But this is the asian private room version. If that's what your into this place seems to nail it.

I was lonely and looking at watching people having fun.....what I got was even better. A stunningly beautiful bartender who listened and was attentive. Strong budget friendly drinks and cocktails (even draft stella) and meeting amazing regulars. I am a fan. Like a secret crush on my single bartender 😜, excited to meet even more cool patrons, and explore an expansive drink menu kind of excited.

I could write an entertaining short story on my experience here. But I will shorten to this .....if you are a lonely dude who just wants a beautiful korean bartender to talk too, along with some awesome culturally diverse patronage. Then step away from your taco mac and come here. I can only rate on the drinks and companionship. But as a married guy just looking for a conversation and a cold drink.... Well I can't imagine ever going anywhere else.

I never leave negative google reviews, but this is the exception. This place thrives off of ripping off its customers. This place is insanely shady and will nickel and dime you. I came here with a group of friends a couple weeks ago. One of my friends snuck in alcohol, and we were hit with a $300 fine. We decided amongst ourselves this was our own fault since there were signs posted throughout the establishment warning about potential fines for this. Even though $300 is an INSANE fine for sneaking in drinks, we still really liked this place so that incident didn’t stop us from coming back again. We went again tonight with a group of 8 and were told if we wanted a room to accommodate all of us, we would have to pay $260 for 2 bottles of alcohol. We paid it, agreeing to split the cost among ourselves. When we ended our night, our final tab came out to be $390. We were forced to pay a 20% tip which came out to $60, even though the waitress did nothing but bring us our alcohol and a plate of fruit. We originally really liked this place but will not be returning. We’ll be going to another much cheaper bar in the future. Save your money, this place...
