I want to preface this by saying that I have been a server in the past, and so I’m VERY understanding of when service isn’t at its best or whatever else. I get it, I had my days as a server too. But this was by far the WORSE experience I’ve EVER had at any restaurant. We come in as a party of 12 and sit down. Everything is going fine until the food comes out.
To start, the server didn’t even know what was what. He brings out two noodle dishes we had ordered and points to a bowl and says “this is either the oyster noodle soup or spicy seafood soup”. I look at the bowl and ask how it’s oyster if there’s no oyster in it. He just looks at me and kinda shrugs. Ok, a bit weird but whatever we can figure it out. After a few minutes of us trying to figure out which dish was which, we asked our server for two forks since two people at our table couldn’t use chopsticks. It took us three times of asking for a fork to get the fork.
We finally get to eating and one person at our table was not a fan of his dish at all. He took two bites and ended up going somewhere else to eat without us. I asked the server if there was anyway we could get a remake or send it back since the dish was barely touched and he responds with “it’s too late for that”. We then politely ask for a manager and he gives us this look and very RUDELY says “excuse me???” He then proceeds to tell us there is no manager and at this point we’re over it so we just say it’s ok and ask for the bill. For whatever reason, they couldn’t split the bill at all which I feel like is something you should tell a party before seating us. They couldn’t even split it two ways.
Overall, the worst experience ever. Server was rude, we received no help whatsoever, and again, we were all very polite during this entire interaction, so the fact the server was being so rude was baffling to me m. Our total bill was about $170. I’ve never in my life tipped less than 20% on a bill, especially because I was a server before so I get how it is. But for the first time ever, I tipped less than 20% and only gave $10. Which honestly, he did not deserve considering how rude he was. Never coming back EVER and I hope whoever manages/owns this restaurant talks to the staff about this. You just lost 12 customers and we’ll be sure to tell our friends to avoid...
Read moreI had heard about a restaurant specializing in jjamppong, so I wanted to come and try. When I went into the restaurant and looked at the menus, it was a Korean-style Chinese restaurant. Ordered Special Spicy Seafood noodles (special samseon jjamppong) and waited for about 5 minutes, so it came out. I felt good because it came out faster than I expected.
As you can see in my pictures, it looks a great jjamppong with a lot of seafood. First, once the soup... and then vegetables and seafood one by one... Finally, a chopstick of noodles... I tasted it one after the other.
The Jjamppong soup had a sweet and warm taste as a whole, and finally it had a slightly spicy taste. I didn't control the spicy level when I ordered it, so it was a little lighter for me who liked spicy taste. I thought it would be good to order it with a higher spicy level next time.
Vegetables and seafood are disappointing. Jjamppong is made of soup with vegetables and seafoods. The soup should be boiled with vegetables and seafoods. However, it was a pity that the soup wasn’t made with vegetables and seafoods. It was a pity that the vegetables and seafood didn't contain any taste like jjamppong at all. In particular, the crab leg was undercooked, so I didn't feel like eating it. Based on the seafoods, I think seafoods were boiling separately in the fresh water and placed as a decoration on the top of the bowl containing jjamppong noodles and soup. Maybe it seemed to be done like this in the kitchen to make it quickly when the order came in, but it had the advantage of shortening the preparation time, but it was a pity that they gave up the taste of the food.
In the restaurant, there are people who just come in to sell something to customers. The waitress told me they are pitiful and, so can't prevent them to sell. However, I want the restaurant to know that it's unpleasant from the point of view of the customers who come into the restaurant and pay to eat their meals.
I will try other meals at this restaurant next time because there are many different meals available. However, it is not a jjamppong-specializing restaurant but maybe ordinary Korean-styled...
Read moreWe went here for an early bday lunch spot for my auntie. As newcomers recommended by a family friend we were hesitant. The appetizer was a good snack and we appreciated that the radishes were pickled in house instead of bought. (The yellow pre-packaged radish is actually bad for you, Yellow Lake #5.)
Even though the place is marketed for a Jjam pong and Jajang Myun place I really wanted to try my favorite dish cold noodles in black bean soup. My dish came out beautifully presented and earlier than expected. It’s early arrival worried me a bit. It came garnished with sprouts and tomatoes which I opted to give my aunt because I’m not suppose to eat them. The seasoning and texture of the black bean soup was not as fine as I’m used to but it was a good consistency and the taste was way better than the white bean. Technically the black has better taste and texture. Dare I say the house noodles were perfect! The consistency, the thickness and perfectly cooked al dente. Everyone else in my family loved the noodles as well. My mom ordered the spicy seafood noodle soup and while it was a bit too much oil, the seasoning was just right. The dish was not as hot as expected but that’s because there are ceiling fans throughout the restaurant.
My aunt’s Ja Jang Myun was satisfactory. She liked they well portioned the pork but the sauce was sweet to her taste. It wasn’t excellent but good.
My uncle’s Ja Jang rice had a lot of rice but not enough sauce. He thought the sauce was also sweet but tasted decent. My family and I are relatively picky eaters especially my aunt and uncle because she makes everything at home. So when they say something is good I trust their judgement.
The battered pork strips were surprisingly good, a few pieces were dry but overall a good batter and love that they out the sauce on the side to dip.
Overall presentation good, quality is good and service decent as...
