EDIT (7yrs later): I no longer endorse Delco’s.
It pains me to say this, but after years of enjoying their Philly cheesesteaks, I just can’t recommend them anymore. Over the past year, I’ve given them multiple chances, hoping for that bold, flavorful sandwich I used to love—but each time, I’ve been met with disappointment.
The once-flavorful meat now tastes like... well, nothing. No seasoning, no salt, no pepper—just plain, gray, uninspired beef. And speaking of gray, the way they pile up pounds of pre-cooked meat on the cool side of the grill makes it look like it’s been sitting there waiting for a retirement party. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I’d have guessed it was microwaved.
Now, don’t get me wrong—the Amoroso bread is still fantastic, and the veggies and cheese are solid. But a great cheesesteak needs more than just good toppings. And considering I was there between rushes, with only one other table occupied, I can't understand why they wouldn’t just cook the meat fresh per order. It's sliced so thin it would take no time at all!
On the bright side, the restaurant is clean, and the atmosphere is pleasant. But unfortunately, a pleasant atmosphere can’t make up for a bland sandwich. I really wanted to keep loving this place, but unless they start putting some effort (and seasoning!) back into their Philly cheesesteaks, I won’t be back.

Being from the Northeast and enjoying New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia specialty foods on a daily basis I am happy that I have been slowly finding foods that reminds me of what I grew up on in Florida.
I visited Delco's during Covid-19 early evening. The restaurant was busy but not extremely crowded. I actually walked straight to the register to place my order. People were sitting down eating their food and two orders were placed in front of me. It wasn't the fastest place and I've been in. The restaurant looked clean in the counter help was fairly nice and pleasant.
Does sandwich itself was very good and had good flavor. I ordered a cheese steak with mushrooms and onions. I wasn't asked what kind of cheese I wanted. And as I reflect I don't even think I looked to see what types of cheese they offered. I am actually use to eating provolone or american cheese on my cheesesteaks. The steak itself was tasty I am used to it actually having a little more crunch or burntness to it but it was good meat. The roll was good also.
I also had a order of french fries. They were very good french fries. The type that I am a custom of having with cheesesteaks in Philadelphia.
If you're looking for a very good cheesesteak I do...
Read moreNot only is the food here wholly scrumptious, but the staff are second to none. This spot gets insanely busy and yet you will get pleasant service and helpful information should you have questions. I want to try some of their other offerings but it's hard not to order a cheese steak after you walk in and get hit with the glorious scents whafting from a grill full of beef. Whiz is the way to go if you ask me, but they have other cheese options and all the toppings you could hope for. I once wondered out, food drunk from a dalliance with the previously described sandwich and a basket of crispy hot fries and left my handbag full of all of my travel documents slung over the rear of my chair. I was in my driveway near downtown Tampa before I realized my grievous error. I was set to leave the country in a few days and I went into an immediate panic. Delcos was 45 minutes away and they were set to close in 5. I called, bereft - certain my indulgence in their fine fare had jeopardized my nearing adventures abroad and cost me hours in government offices recovering the fragile documents that say I am who I am - BUT LO the absolute gems there at Delcos had in fact recovered an abandoned handbag and secured behind their counter. I recovered my bag the next day safe and sound. Disaster averted. Also, they have a magnificent selection of Tastykake offerings. If you're into that...
