Update: We used to go to this restaurant when It opened and it has gone WAY down hill. Not only has the menu continued to change, but the food quality and service is terrible now. Yesterday during our visit, the hostess was not very friendly when greeting us, our waitress barely engaged,, and she did not get any of our orders right. Who runs this place? My steak was burned on the outside and over-cooked, when I asked for medium rare. My husband's side was wrong. My grandmothers salad was wrong. My son's "side of fruit" ended up just being a bowl of oranges....
Also, I had to laugh at how ridiculous it is that I got uncharged for a side when I got the choice of TWO sides with my steak, when you all only now offer ONE gluten friendly side option. I have a gluten allergy and my ONLY side option that is gluten friendly is the sweet potato fries, so instead of comping me a side salad due to YOUR lack of options, I got an up-charge for a side when it's not my fault you all only now have ONE gluten friendly side option.....TERRIBLE customer service.
I remembered quickly after this experience why we don't go to this place anymore. We used to frequent it, now, we plan to never return.
Hoping you all get things turned around.
Preview Review: My husband and I go to Prohibition often, we live about a mile or 2 away. We have become familiar with a lot of the great staff and always feel welcomed!
The major bummer is that none of the bbq can be made gluten-free, which is a necessity for me, not by choice. Also - all the gf appetizers and shareables that are no longer on the current menu (shanghai ribs, loved those). Also, none of the desserts are gluten free. As “regulars” if these things were offered, we probably would come even more. We often go to other bbq spots when we both want bbq so that I have options.
The food is good, the drinks are good, service is great! Hoping for more gluten free/friendly options...
Read moreHello Fellow Explorers. When you are Dunedin Florida exploring the local culture. You should keep a sharp eye out for a local spot called Prohibition Dunedin. Here you will find my favorite things. The BBQ alone is worth the stop. The ribs, pork, chicken, brisket all of it is so tender you would think the chef sold thier soul to have BBQ so soft, tender, and juicy. We have all had tender juicy BBQ before, but this is definitely different. This is tantalizing, it reaches back into the depths of your soul and dares you remember a time you ever felt like this before. The BBQ here begs to be devoured as it comforts and soothes. It's like discovering the heart pounding feeling of love all over again. But, don't forget explorers, love has traps. The sauces, spices, and dashes of hidden flavors lure you in further and now, not only are you madly in love but now you are smitten and stand on the fine edge of lustful desire staring in to the abyss of temptation. Oh boy, it is tempting. Every bite equal to or better than the last. Bring your glutenous hunger and desire when you are in the mood for satisfaction. This place my be called Prohibition, but it should never be off limits. Sorry, got lost in the moment there. Anyway, there is more here than spine tingling BBQ. The atmosphere here is charming and warm. You feel like you have always belonged here and that you have been missed. This is because the staff is heavenly. Helpful, knowledgeable, and professional service is what the staff bring to the table. The world could be burning and the staff here would never even blink an eye at it. They are bringing you the finest moments in dinning they can as the rest of the world and it's troubles drift away. This place knows the secret, good product and good service and you will always win. You should win too. Come find out the tantalizing secret behind...
Read moreWe decided to try this new place, Prohibition Kitchen, for dinner last night! Of course at 6 on Friday night there was a line. They estimated a half hour and 40 minutes later we were in... Our server, Sarah, was Cute & Super helpful with drink recommendations and menu highlights! She took our drink order and returned shortly to see about appetizers and dinner... Everything sounded great and we looked at items that were being delivered to tables around us and it all appeared and smelled wonderful!! We started with PK's Dip - lump crab, shrimp, onion & artichokes on sourdough toast. The "Sloppy Pig" - smoked pork belly in jalapeño aioli on a corn bread souffle! And the "Lobster Street Corn Fritters" to start... We all shared and Loved the Dip! The Pig was a touch spicy so the ladies kinda shide away from it. The LSCF (3) were tasty, but a bit dry... they use the corn bread mix in a few of these apps, to varying degrees of success... with the pork belly it was perfect!; in the Lobster, it was rather dry... Dinner entrees were next. My sister had the "Blue Moo" burger and said it was Great! Came with a basket of hand cut fries that were perfect! The little woman had the "Pork Belly BLT" and Brussel sprouts with bacon, Very Good!! I had the "Burnt Ends Mac & Cheese" - Really Tasty!! Our drinks from the bar were a little disappointing as they short pour the featured alcohol... My Hemingway's Daiquiri was pretty diluted ... Dessert was really good - Peanut butter mousse and a Salted Carmel Cheesecake!! Service was great, appetizers were good, drinks... umm, Dessert from their bakery - Good!! They have only been open for a couple weeks now, so we will give them some time to figure it out and then try...
