Sunset Smoothies and Ice Cream — Restaurant in Dunedin

I don't post a lot of reviews, but every once in a while a place stands out for me. Stopped by Sunset Smoothies after a day out on honeymoon island with the wife and kids today. What a treat. The owner was very welcoming, always a blessing for us as we have 8 kids ranging from 22 to 3 . This usually causes looks of fear in the eyes of our hosts when we walk through the door. Not so here. Our host engaged with each one of our kids and we all got some of the tastiest ice cream we have ever had. The portions are very generous as well. My 17 year old daughter ordered a kiddie size because she wasn't sure she could eat a regular size. On the opposite side of the coin, my 3 year old son, who never finishes his ice cream for some odd reason, wolfed down his entire cup. All ordered ice cream save for my wife, who ordered a sunshine smoothie. Smoothies are not really my thing, but I had a taste and it was quite nice, it was very refreshing. For me, the best I save for last, the butter pecan ice cream. Butter pecan is my thing, favorite ice cream for me by a mile. The butter pecan here is possibly the creamiest, most flavorful butter pecan I have had in my 50+ years on this planet. Tonight, I spoke with Simon on the phone and asked if I could place an order for 1 smoothie over the phone and just pick it up. He said they usually didn't do that, but agreed to start making it for me. I do live very close and said I'd be there in 10 minutes. The smoothie was ready for me when I got there. He was friendly and attentive. The only reason I called in the smoothie was because my son had his tonsils removed today, and that's all he wanted. His kind gesture made my son's night and gave this momma piece of mind. I really appreciate it! Stopped by Sunset Smoothies and Ice Cream. So good! Options complete the spectrum of goodness. Anywhere from sweet and fun Ice cream to healthy smoothie options. Also protein waffles!!! What!!
