Sandbar Grill — Restaurant in Dunedin

I have been coming here as a regular several times a year for the past 17 years of my life. I usually stop in with friends, but this time I decided to bring my children and my mother for their birthday dinner. The service was horrible, we arrived at 8:47 and after she took our order and gave our drinks, our waitress left without saying anything. Another waitress took over after realizing we didn’t receive our food, it was past 9:30 at this point. No one had checked to see if we needed a refill up until this time. There was only two other tables. The food came out wrong — the fried clam strips were seriously over cooked, all of our French fries were over cooked and cold, some of them even stuck burnt onto the paper in the food basket, making them inedible. I could only stomach one bite of the mahi mahi sandwich, it came out cold and not blackened. The fish part of the fish as chips turned out good. My daughters “chopped steak” which is actually just a hamburger patty, came out medium rare instead of medium well and had to be redone (this time it came out burnt and well done, but by this point it was 9:45 and we were over it). My kids both got root beers, which was completely flat. They took one sip and asked for waters. They didn’t offer to remove this from the bill, even though it was clear they had not drank them at all. I recommend this place to my family and left embarrassed. The worst part is others suggested Frenchys down the street, and I vouched for THIS place saying it was better. What a mistake! I feel like I completely wasted $65 dollars....

First, let me say that the new GM Mike was very apologetic and wanted to make things better for this pretty awful experience that I had with my friend on saturday night. I have been to Sandbar during the day time for lunch with friends a few times and have never had a problem. Saturday night was the first time that I was made to feel that because of my race that I did not belong there. The restaurant was not full on the patio, there were about three tables, not busy at all. The server came over after about 10 minutes and asked us if we wanted something to drink, I got a coke and my friend got a cocktail. But 25 to 30 minutes later, we were still sitting there to order our food and we made eye contact with the server several times as he was on the patio serving and taking an order from a couple right behind us. My friend noticed the blatant ignoring of us and she mentioned it and I didn't notice at first until I started to really look around and see that we were being ignored, and the only thing that I can think of is it has to do with my race. So we decided to just pay for our drinks and we left and walked over to Cricketers and was seated and served food within 15 minutes. I do not usually write negative reviews because I don't always think it's fair to restaurants but this was blatant racism and thus review needed to be posted. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else that is non-white and if it does, don't be afraid to speak up because my money is just as good as...

My husband and I went to lunch there today. I ordered the pork sandwich and he ordered the pork plate. I took one bite and it was so hard to chew and swallow it also had no flavor I knew I couldn’t eat it. My husband didn’t like it too but started to eat i anyways.. So I had to tell a different waitress that I wanted to order something else. Got the next meal and our waitress came by and I told her about the pork sandwich so she took it back to have them look at it not sure if she showed the cook or the owner, came back and told us it wasn’t done!!!! By that time my husband already ate a lot of it but immediately stopped eating it when we were told it wasn’t done.. We got the bill and she said she took the meal off. I assumed she had took off both meals since they were both raw!!!! I’m not here to get free meals!!!! We eat out every weekend,don’t mind to spend money on meals!!! I told her I think I shouldn’t have to pay for the 2 meals since it wasn’t done.. The owner said well since he at a lot of the meal we should pay.. My husband would of never ate it if he thought it wasn’t cooked!!!!!!! He even orders his steak well done!!! Owner ended up taking a few dollars off .
